Question Basic DIY oil and air filters

I can’t find and DIY on how to change the oil and various air filters on a 2019 LS500. Have I bumped up to a vehicle that is only serviceable through a dealer? I’m okay with taking my dream car in to be pampered.

The new LS 500 is also my dream car. Everyone rolls differently, and I respect everyone's choices and preferences when it comes to routine maintenance. As for me - there is no way I would try to replace my engine oil and conduct the checks that Lexus requires. Lexus has the best reliability record in the business (or one of the best), due to the strict maintenance and component checks. This doesn't come cheap. But when I bought the car, I never thought that I needed to save money and do the maintenance myself - not even if it was for fun or a hobby. Again, this is just me. I have a 2018, and they have replaced several items already on warranty that have been discovered on routine oil changes - things that I would not have ever known about. Do you not have any kind of warranty anymore? Are you trying to change the oil to save money? Or because it would be something you would just like to conquer and do yourself? Or because the factory warranty is expired, and you bought it from a 3rd party dealer without any extended warranty? Not sure what your position is. As for me, I bought a 2018 LS 500 (MSRP 93K) for 51K, 43K miles, and the Lexus Dealership threw in the maximum extended warranty for my car. It expires in 2030. (Yes, you read correctly, 2030) That, my friends, is truly amazing. So like I said, I will make sure they look at everything while they conduct the oil changes. I have 8.5 more years of warranty to enjoy. (Lexus is rated to have the best used car warranty in the business - no surprise)

My advice: pamper your LS, its a new gen, and there will be things that will go wrong with it. Leave the oil changes to the dealership, and give them the chance to find things wrong with it while they service it.

There is a thread to shows how to change the 2 air filters (1/10 easy). I too am curious regarding oil changes just because I enjoy wrenching on my cars. Then again, with all the intricate computer systems, I think I will just let the dealership handle all the maintenance until this LS platform/engine is no longer bespoke.

Personally I have the dealer do the oil changes while my cars are under warranty. After that I DIY. I figure if I have them do it, it's not all that crazy expensive and it means there will never be a question of did I do my maintenance if something fails. I've never actually had a powertrain problem during warranty period either though...

Oil changes aren't exactly difficult LOL try DIY it and throw a video up on YouTube :-)
