The V8 crowd has that "HEMI" mentality. "me have 8 cylinders, me like, me not like Turbo".
Common theme is they will will hold their 15 year old cars or get a $150,000 S-Class before they get a LS500!
All righty then!!!
I don't have any issues with any of this btw, its kind of funny but its born from their fondness for their rides. Can't hate on that.
Blows their minds that IS500 exists, as does the LC500 but not in the LS500!

Guess we should all go out and buy V12 Jaguars and BMWs.

Default Same issue blown block on 2018 lexus

Hi everyone. I am new here on the LS side. I've usually been on the RC F side but haven't posted in awhile. Now to the point. My dad bought his 2018 LS500 F Sport AWD back in September '18. This past September around 21k miles, the motor threw a rod. I was driving at first and heard a very slight knock. Dad was in his DB11. Heading back home, he was driving the LS and the knocking became increasingly loud and the motor failed on the highway. Called a tow, sent the DB11 45 minutes home to get moms LX570 to fit the rest of the family. Car was towed to the dealership. The diagnosis was rod bearing failure. Lexus decided to only replace the bottom end even though the general manager and us pleaded to Lexus for a whole new motor. Fast forward to last Wednesday. Just a week after coming back from its 25k service, the motor blew again. Same rod knock. Has anyone experienced this issue? We've bought many Lexus vehicles for over 25 years and this first time any Lexus has ever given us problems.
I had the same issue except Lexus denied my claim. Can someone help my cell is 7867650969

any back ground you can offer? age of car? year? You the first owner? Type of title on the car? Still under the 70k drive train warranty?
previous service issues? Is your car on its first or second blown rod.
Can you share any reasoning why the claim was denied?

The original post and issues were resolved with the car being bought back by Lexus. All cars have bad ones and in the end Lexus took care of the customer with he car being "lemoned" and seemingly no attorneys or hardship ensued. Other than the bad batch of motors build in USA there seems to be little concern about this motor. Not saying first model year was applicable but it was a 2018.

My vehicle has 59k miles,2018,, it was bought at auction, dealer denied based on being a rebuilt title. However they are dismissing the fact the blown block is a recurring issue. it is my understanding I am the second and this is the first blown block. Not sure about the power train warranty being in effect.

Hope this help, thanks again.

My guess is a rebuilt title would negate any warranty. These cars when sold usually are well discounted for many obvious reasons.
perhaps there might exist in the paperwork you were provided when you purchased the car that stipulates any sense of obligation from the seller, or the shop that might have bought it back to life.

That you are the "second" you know of and there are thousands of these vehicles worldot to deny it happens, but would not say its "recurring issue".

I'd spend some Google time to and see if there is any useful information regarding salvage or rebuilt titles if I were you.
What would it cost to rebuild the engine?

There is no Lexus on sale that would hold a candle to the 750i in a straight line. I sold my RC F for Widebody Charger Hellcat last summer. I raced the 750i from a dig and I couldn't reel it in until around 130~.
lies lol... I have owned both

LS500 is a last generation car.
BMW putting its best foot forward with its sedan. Seems the lux segment has gone to SUV's.
Seems 7 series sedan is not the grandiose design on the exterior. Does not make make the statement previous models did.
I'd expect the tech to elevated.

This is a good subject for those looking to purchase a new vehicle today.

Default Grandiose

Grandiose: something that is excessively elaborate, ambitious, or extravagant, perhaps to the point of being ridiculous

You expect Lexus to fix anything on a rebuilt title that you got at an auction?

Rebuilt title means ZERO manufacturer's warranty. A friend of mine discovered this with a rebuilt salvaged TLX with the bad engine rod bearings. Acura won't cover despite the engine rod bearing recall. You're even more SOL as there's no formal recall for the LS500's engine. It's one of the things a buyer accepts as a tradeoff for being able to buy a rebuilt car for a significant discount vs a clean title. Your best bet is to start looking at low mileage used engines from totaled LS500's. It's too late now, but before your engine threw a rod, would've been to find a 3rd party warranty that is willing to warranty salvaged cars.

Rebuilt title. You knew you were taking a risk. An expensive lesson but you will be smarter next time. You have no legal basis for any claim. None. Lick your wounds and move on.
