Actually he is correct, the A8 is basically a FWD platform with AWD added.

Agree. A8 is a FWD platform. Very nose heavy.

Ok I guess I see where you guys are coming from. I can also make the statement that all Audi's are based off of the original VW bug. To me, it's stamped metal, and at least the A8 is based on an all aluminum "ish" space frame. So....ok. I don't really care what it's based on, but how it performs, as all cars are just mainly metal of sorts.

On the one hand, CR says that the LS 500 has "strayed from its historic place as the embodiment of stress-free comfortable motoring....".

On the other hand, Car & Driver says "It has a more expressive style than any previous LS, but all is still relaxed, still peaceful, still a LS".

????

Exactly! Forget what the "experts" say, take a test drive, and form your own opinion.

Totally agree with what both glenneagle and dsc07 said above: these so called experts online and offline are putting out so much contradictory noises, which in total don't really make any sense at all. Added to these noises, you will also have to wade through those random (or maybe not so random) commentaries and questions from posters such as angrypengu and jzqj55, in order to form your own opinion about the 5LS. When I was going through this evaluation process early this year, I simply filtered all these noises out and listened to the impressions from real LS 500 owners, which helped me tremendously in my search. I purchased my Autumn Shimmer LS 500 in May and have enjoyed this new car over my 07 LS 460 so much in so many different ways. Along the way, I have also seen posts questioning the validity of wisdom from LS 500 owners about these new LS cars because "they are biased." Well, with that logic, shouldn't we trust even less the wisdom from others who have much much less or no interaction and experience with the 5LS?

Personally, i quit caring what those twits said at CR regarding automobiles, when I cancelled our subscription almost 15 years ago...YMMV. The rest of the usual media like MT and C&D i regard as only slightly better...maybe some sort of a launching point, but only so credible. I don't care how many magazines they sell....
