LS500 Keeping the same worthless touchpad
New article by consumer reports confirming how owners hate the terrible touchpad system
Can't believe Lexus is carrying this over to the new design
I much prefer the touchscreen in my 2009 LS

Lexus Fanatic
I haven't had the touchpad but I've had two cars with the joystick version and many touch screens. Overall, once used to it I prefer the remote touch. I like what it lets them do with the interior, a bigger screen up higher and further away vs a smaller screen and having to keep the dash high and close. I also hate the fingerprints on a touchscreen.

Inputting an address with the joystick thing is impossible. I thought using the lexus enform app on your phone would be a nice workaround as you can send it to the car. But guess what? you have to have it disconnected from the car before you can enter in an address onto the app!! This is really the worst thing about my IS. I just put my phone right over the nav screen and use waze.

Note the 2018 LS touchpad is second generation, the touchpad debuted in 2018 LC 500.
I've used it in both. And it's about 500% improved over the first generation. FWIW, new 2018 NX
also got the generation 2 touchpad. Try it for 30 seconds in any of those models, and you'll see a world of difference.
evident, how does the voice command function work for you on inputting addresses? p.m. me if you have questions.
leave out the zip when dictating the address.

The sensitivity in my RCF touchpad works fine if you adjust the sensitivity, people just done read the owners manuals. You can also use voice commands for everything..even the a/c. All you have to say is it’s too hot or say the exact temperature you’re wanting. Several owners on the RCF forums complained about the touchpad, but after learning you can adjust it they seemed to enjoy it. Our GX has the touchscreen and it works the best out of all of them, but the reach to touch the LS screen would be a stretch. The joysticks I hate (RX). Lastly, you CAN use the app on your phone to input navigation addresses, which I do often when out of town for work...just input where I need to go while walking out of my hotel room.
