Default Turbo Whistle

Lexus is all about quiet, which I actually love. But just curious if any of you can hear any whistle under boost? I can barely, but I have to listen really hard and it has to be quiet around me. With every other factory turbocharged vehicle I've had I could hear the turbo. Even under very low boost.

These Turbo's don't whistle while they work, just boost and provide extreme horsepower.

Default Quiet

I went from an F150 3.5 Ecoboost to the LS500.
No whistle with either.
Prior to the F150 I had a Mazdaspeed Miata with manual boost controller and intake and exhaust mods. It whistled and made fun noises.
I like the quiet LS500 but do find the fake engine noise thingy a little out of character for a luxury car.

Only my Saab 900 Turbo whistled. You knew it when it kicked in!

True. It pulls like a freight train. Lexus did a really good job as always with quieting it down. The wild things is the factory max boost level is higher on this than any of the factory limits on the other turbo cars I've owned. You could hear all of those.

I've found that if I just use sport mode and not sport+ I don't get the fake sound. Try that. Lately I've just been leaving it in comfort mode.

Dude the fake engine noise is hilarious. I show everyone who drives in my car. Some Japanese engineer thought of that after 18 sake's and 4 hours of karaoke!

The Tesla fart is far more hilarious.

Agreed. I don't hear the spool or the blow off on these turbos. I, too, have an F150 Ecoboost (2.7 tho) and I can hear the turbos spooling (no open intake). I eliminated the recirculating blow off pipe so the "whoooosh" is LOUD. I'm wondering if an intake on the twins would open up the spooling sound as well. I just bought my LS500, so I haven't had an opportunity to really dig in yet, but I will...

Extremely quiet. Funny thing is on a 2022 or newer tundra you can HEAR those smaller turbos inside and out! Especially when transitioning from engine off all electric to full boost with windows down. Crazy how the turbos are larger and putting up more boost hey is quieter then the lx600/tundra/Sequioa v35

You can with little mods hear the turbos. I did a K&N filter drop in, changed the air intake hose with silicone tubes, opened the air box door. Maybe only F sport has though.
Also removed the extra mesh pad inside of air box

Opened air box door? Where exactly is the part you removed? I have Tom's racing air filters installed and JB4 on map 2. I can hear them because of the extra airflow and boost, but it's still quiet. Would like to hear them a little more.

Each air box has this door which opens when in S+. I removed the doosr plus whiched out air intake hose for silicon.
Each air box has a door where you see the rectangle opening which opens when in S+. ( Not sure if this is only with Fsport models) I removed the doosr plus switched out air intake hose for silicon.

Can you post pictures of your set up with the silicon tubes?
