Our problem is the ls500 is expensive, rare and in most countries came mostly or only in v6 hybrid form. Check some tundra sites for more information and insights on our v35 engines.
Not a problem. We have the "modified" version of what those Tundra/Sequoa dudes want.

  • MagnaFlow Street-Series cat-back exhaust
  • Custom dual-pipe cold-air intake plumbing
The goal: increased performance on top of current JB4 setup, without altering bottom-end internals.
Have you tried this setup or something similar?
What gotchas lie out there?
Do you have any alternative recommendations for builders/installers, preferably in the Ann Arbor - Detroit - Toledo - Lansing area?
All comments welcome - there isn't much out there in bolt-ons for an LS 500.
Hey wassup. Got my 2021 f sport last month and looking to give it a bit more power aswell. How you like the JB4 tune? I've done a small upgrade to my air intake. Thinking that since now its pulling more air. Maybe the tune will help more.

I've ordered the JB4. I'm pretty well versed with turbo cars as I've owned a few. 3 of them converted to street-race cars. I've done lots of research for about a year on this car. I know it's limits and plan to operate well inside what it can handle. Probably eventually will stay with map 2.

However, if you have the cajones to do so, then more power to you. Keep us “tuned in” as to the results.
I'm pushing 73. My LS500 was a "used" car (5,000 miles) so I got about 25% off full price. It's a wonderful car for me; the air suspension is good for my back, and all the goodies are present, including the first aid kit. The only thing it was lacking was power, maybe just 50 more. That's what I got with the JB4. Runs smooth as silk and you can always disconnect through the app if you want.
And my cojones are doing just fine.

Default Jb4

Maybe just for fun after my Lexus Certified warranty expires in October.

That's great! My dad raced his whole life until he passed at 68 unexpectedly. I've raced my whole life and most your fastest guys at the track, not specifically talking about the LS are older guys. It's not young folks. Most of them can't afford to go fast. A true car enthusiast is going to look for performance gains. Especially in something that is already turbocharged. It's just so easy to add more horsepower. I don't see an issue with releasing 50 to 70 more horsepower. That's well inside the limits of what this drivetrain can take. And no one said they're building a race car. It's more of a sleeper to have the extra power for the unsuspecting person that thinks it's slow. I've already gotten two unsuspecting people that thought their car was fast.

Well said. I just like being different and if I could make my LS stand apart, best believe i will. Its your own money which is why at times I hate when others give them comments of...."Its a Lexus and about comfort". To us car enthusiasts, them words don't exist. We need to keep the build section alive. I will be posting more as I build.

To mod or not to mod......

Car enthusiasts, Audiophiles, and Foodies are all looking for "More, Better, efficient, or ultimate experiences".
Having a sleeper and being faster unsuspectingly is about dominance.
Audiphiles turn their nose up on Bose, or Sonos as they too want power and satisfaction.
Foodies are always looking for amazing exeperiences and also turn their nose at those who eat spaghetti O's!

We alltend to advocate for what we do. So if you get a tune, your gonna brag on it. Those who are happy are gonna tell you ithey are happy without it. Etc etc.
Some crave the need for self expression and cars are one way to do it. "Be different".

I think the LS500 is a brilliant machine.
With so few of these around we are all different but most people can't tell the difference between an ES or LS.
The car in base without mods is a sleeper either way. Its fast. Mod is faster. You want to win? You already did.
Personally I enjoy the banter. I think when someone tells another how to be happy is when we step on each others toes. Mod or not modded. Either way.
Enjoy the rides fellas! we all have special machines!

Well said. A few us want a little more power. Most are fine with the stock power. I'm fine with it too. But it's not about that. I always turn my cars up a little more. 😁

DSMLS: Glad to see that you GET IT!
Been a car guy since age 5, lived near Daytona when they built the speedway in 1959, and lived only 100 miles from Watkins Glen in the glory days of REAL F1, Can-Am, Trans-Am (late 60s-early 70s). I had no money, so I crawled in under the fence. There is no such thing as an old car guy; it keeps you young. I've always had at least one hot rod or project car but I'm down to just the LS now. 30 bucks per HP installed, and that was with a throttle controller I don't really need. I put the JB4 decal in a rear quarter window as a conversation starter and have talked to some groovy people because of it. I graduated from Bondurant Racing School in the 90s, qualified for SCCA and IMSA. Luckily, I never bought a race car, so my kid could go to college!

Alright. So I got it installed. Got a check engine light. I checked everything. Good. Check engine light. It ended up being the obdii connection. I removed that and everything was clear. Went for a drive. Whoa. I thought it was fast before, but now the thing hauls something serious.

Welcome to the brotherhood!
I couldn't resist putting the JB4 tuner decals on my rear quarter panes. Met a car guy who claimed he used the same maker for his install and achieved 600+ HP in his smaller Audi sedan. I have used the "race only" map only once, didn't seem scary to me.
And it's a bargain - where/how else can you add 50 HP to a luxury car for $1500?

I remedied the obd connection issue last week. I'm loving the car even more with this on it. Just light pedal and it's ready to move. Definitely woke the car up, and I'm currently only on map 1. Bluetooth arrived today. I'll install that later today. Full thumbs up on the JB4.

Default Jb4 app

If anyone is curious if the jb4 has other helpful uses. Here ya can see it basically shows all the important temperatures. Them dashes will become numbers when the vehicle is on.

I installed and played with the Bluetooth today. Even done a few pulls and some logs. I got out of the car after a pull and just stared at it. I said 'this thing should not be this fast '. Impressed with it. I am on map 2 now. I will stay there.
