80K LS500 Spark plug service
Afternoon Folks,
Have a question regarding the 80K LS500 Service. Per Lexus as part of the 80K service the spark plugs are required to be changed:
FACTORY RECOMMENDED SERVICE FOR 80K MILES / 96 MONTHS
Replace Spark Plugs (Required Under Terms Of Emission Control Warranty.
******************************************************************************************
Have a CPO vehicle in California and have purchased an extended Lexus Maintenance program which has served me well.
The Lexus SR is advising that Lexus will **not** cover the cost of the spark plug service - even per the above.
Has anyone else run into this issue and is there any corporate level resolution regarding this matter?
If this has been posted prior - sorry for the duplication. Also not trying to flame anyone including Lexus.
Thank you in advance.

Owner’s manual says 40,000 mile intervals for spark plug replacement in order to maintain emissions system warranty.
My spark plugs looked perfectly good after 40,000 miles. My LS500 ran the same before and after spark plug replacement. This seems unnecessary. Other vehicles I owned required spark plug replacement at 100,000 miles.
This costs $400-$500 at a Lexus dealer. I’m thinking many Lexus LS500 owners are going to forego this service after their cars get a little older.
So, what makes the emissions system on an LS500 any different from that on other vehicles?
