Default Are Goodyears Good ?

I was thinking about putting goodyear tires on my LS500. The only thing is I've never had goodyear tires on any of my previous lexus's So I do not know how good they are. Do you guys have any insight or thoughts ?

Goodyear is an excellent brand.
When I had my GS350 had put on the GY Assurance WeatherReady All Season and they were fantastic.

The link below has the equivalent 2nd generation GoodYear Assurance WeratherReady Tire.

Do yourself a favor and subscribe to Consumer Reports digital edition. They've got all of the tire ratings and recommendations for every type of tire.

You could also read reviews on Tire Rack.

Default Brand Names

Why tire manufacturers make so many different models of tires is a mystery to me other than just to make more money selling cheap tires to skinflints who don’t want to spend very much on tires.
Every tire manufacturer seems to make good tires and bad tires, so buying strictly by brand name is not the best idea. I’ve had good and bad Goodyears, Michelins, Yokohamas, BFGs, etc.
All I know is either go on past experience with a particular tire and/or rely on specs and reviews.
I wouldn’t put total confidence in any brand name.
Heck, I had Hankooks on an F150 and they were superior to the OE Michelins, but that doesn’t mean you should put Hankooks on a Lexus.
