Default Driver Profiles Don't Automatically Load

I've got a new 2024, and I know they made a couple changes from 2023s, so I don't know if driver profiles is one of them or not.

Anyway, I've got the primary driver profile in the car, paired to that driver's iPhone. The secondary profile is also in the car, with that iPhone loaded and saved to that driver as well.

My issue is that that car is not switching profiles automatically. I (secondary) drove the car a few days back and had my profile on. Today the primary driver decides to drive, so I actually shut my phone off before we got in the car to see what the car would do. She started up the car etc... the profile never switched to her primary driver profile despite the car not detecting my phone (because my phone was off). Her phone was connected to bluetooth but the profile never switched over.

I then have to go to the settings menu, tap profiles, tap her name, and enter the PIN.

1) Why is the car not automatically changing profiles based on which phone is detected?
2) Is there any way to just link profiles to keys instead of phones? This is how the old BMW worked and it was flawless. As long as the person was using the correct key, everything switched automatically. I've got the key linked to the seat and mirror settings but it doesn't seem to be linked to the computer profiles.
3) Is there any way to disable the profile switching PIN requirement? I (secondary) can seem to switch my profile and it doesn't ask for my pin. Every time she manually switches back to her (primary) profile it asks for a PIN

Somewhat related but what vehicle settings are linked to a profile? Is it just radio presets or is it things like light-off delays, air suspension settings, HUD position, etc?

I find this all extremely clunky and the profile switching settings are buried in the touchscreen. That a 13 year old BMW works better than a brand new Lexus is a bit absurd to me. This so far has been my biggest complaint on the car along with the driver monitor (new for 2024) warning me constantly when I drive with my hand at 12:00.
