At Lexus dealer waiting for oil change. I asked service advisor about tire life on my LS500. He said to expect about 15,000 miles, that our cars are set up from the factory with negative camber for sporty handling.
He says this mileage is regardless of whether we run runflat or conventional tires.
What mileage have you gotten out of tires on your LS500 tires? I’m accustomed to getting 40,000-50,000 miles on other vehicles we have owned.
Mine measure 7/32, but of course that’s measured at the groove in the tire. What he told me is that the tires wear on the inner edge because of negative camber.
The Bridgestone Turanza runflats come with 10/32 tread depth. I have used up 3/32 in 12,000 miles, or 1/32 for every 4,000 miles. At that rate it seems I would get 40,000 miles out of these tires, but that ain’t gonna happen if the inner edge of the tire is getting worn away at a faster rate.

Glad you posted this because I was wondering about wear rates as just changed out my run flats and already have 6K on new tires and measured 8/32.
So neglecting the inner edge, if you are wearing down 1/32 at 4k Mi, at 28K-32K mi, you should need new tires because they should be changed out at around 3/32 -2/32 for safety reasons and can not run them to 0/32 which is what 40K would get you to at your current wear rate.
@Nalod I have a portable air compressor, can of fix a flat and a plug/patch tire repair kit in my trunk as mitigation if I ever need it in case of a flat. Of course can always call road side assistance if necessary.
The 15,000 mile tire life that the dealer mentioned is ridiculous. At that rate I would be spending $100/month on tires. 1,000 miles/ month on a $1,500 set of runflats.
I have pumped my runflats up to 40psi. Maybe that will extend their life a little.
Roughly 11,000 miles on my set of Pirelli P7 AS Plus 3 (tread rated 740 AA) and I am only down 1.5/32nd of tread, from 10/32 new to now 8.5/32 on all four tires and regardless of my measuring of the inner or outer grooves (4-grooves design). My experience does not agree with that SA. That would be true for my 911 with summer soft-compound tires.
