I can’t speak directly to the GS90, but I owned the Hyundai Equus prior to my LS500. The Equus was a nice car, but was nowhere near as reliable as any of the Lexus vehicles I have owned. It is a good thing I had a certified used Equus as it cost over $30k in warranty repairs in the 80,000 miles I owned the car. I sold it prior to the extended warranty expiring. In addition to the repair costs, customer service from Lexus is substantially better than Hyundai which is the parent company of Genesis. Hyundai customer service is set up for buyers that expect nothing further beyond delivery of a vehicle. Everything was difficult when dealing with Hyundai.
Even if the Genesis was a superior and more reliable car, I would remain loyal to Lexus for the customer service and support alone. All that aside, the LS500 is a fantastic car and would be hard for the GS90 to beat in creature comforts or reliability. To this point, I have nearly 60k miles on my LS500 and zero issues.
G90 is a new design and should have immediate appeal. I have not driven it, or the 2023 LS500 which has some improvements from my 2019.
I have yet to see a G90 in person or its interior. For me, LS500 at first impressions were very odd to me in the interior. The mid 2000's "Bangle butt" BMW 5 was highly criticized as was the first "Bass mouth" Audi A6. Both became near industry standards in time for the luxury segment. Our LS500 has such a rear design and a huge grill design.
When I had a chance to sit in the LS500 it started to resinate what they were going for which was a very different vibe from the German builds they built its reputation on.
Im steadfast thrilled with my LS500 having bought it with just 27k on the odd and paid about .60 cents on the Dollar from new.
Given this is a LS500 thread im sure a G90 thread might be all to happy to advocate for their choices as well they should.
Be curious to learn opinions from those who have driven both.
As a G90 owner, who owned 5 Lexus vehicles prior, I love my Genesis. I'll get to the 23 in a moment. My 17 Ultimate has HUD, 360 view cameras, reclining back seats, USB updates, and all the high tech like emergency braking, blind spot, adaptive cruise etc. Starting in 2020 it added carplay which I'd like to have, but currently it's not a real need. But for me, I don't like the direction of the 2023. Yeah it has everything and then some. I'm not a fan of that interior. Not sure what they were thinking when they had such a nice interior ending in 2022. I'd choose a 23 LS500 over that. Both are great cars and it all comes down to personal preference. The biggest win for Lexus is service. Hyundai is finally installing stand alone Genesis dealerships, but it's not fast enough. So taking your car to a Hyundai dealership with one Genesis tech is not ideal. Over the next few years hopefully that will all change and Hyundai can try and catch up to the Lexus gold standard of service.
