leaking radiator ghetto rigged?
Just picked up a 08' LS460 and was wondering why my heat would only work under acceleration.
Come to find out this is what my upper radiator looks like.
Previous owner mustve broken off the overflow nipple and just shoved a body clip in there then put a bolt in the hose..
So Im assuming Ill need a new radiator for my heat to work properly before winter.
Hopefully I dont find more issues/band aid fixes like this.

Broken radiator nipple is common in older models. The new model radiator has a different size and strength nipple. Yes, you need at least a new radiator, maybe more, when the mechanic looks it over.
Otherwise I would probably go Denso.
The new style radiator will fit in. As there may be some old style radiators in stock, confirm you're getting the new style model number. Because of nipple size you will likely need a different hose or adapter. Denso makes Lexus products , so that would be a good choice. I'm sure there are YouTube videos on how to replace radiator if you like to DIY. Otherwise an indy shop should be able to do this at a reasonable price with work and parts guaranteed. They will also know how to purge air from system, check the cap and o-ring on expansion tank, check the heater core for proper flow and general function of climate control system. A great opportunity to change the coolant too. I'll bet it's never been changed.
Just ordered the 12' model radiator and 3 gallons of Zerex Red coolant.
I'll check out what size nipple hose I'll need and that should be all I need.
Depending on price, maybe I will just take it to my mechanic and have them do it.
Thanks for the help!

If you are switching coolants to you need to flush the system properly. It is not recommended to mix different coolant together. I would stick with the OEM coolant as it is a good coolant. What radiator did you get and how much it was?
Also ordered some Zerex Red coolant, because I am not paying $30 per bottle at Toyota. So I ordered 3 gallons (roughly 11.3 liters) of that.
Planning on doing the swap sometime this/next week.
