Default HID replacement

I've looked at the lighting stickies but the older models are different even though they are 4th gen.

Thought I'd just ask because someone has done this for sure, have a look at the pics and tell me how this cover comes off please. It doesn't turn because the bottom of it is flat and I can't see any retaining clips. Also regarding the 30000v thing, I'm assuming a battery disconnect and turning the light switch on will drain most of that haha.

edit: Sorry, it turns I was looking at the housing incorrectly.

Yes lights on with battery disconnected would drain it, they also will lose charge quite quickly and do not present a real risk unless someone turns the lights on while you are in contact with the output for whatever reason. The access hatch you have opened appears to be the ballast access, try the other hatch/pull the whole inner fender off to make sure you are accessing the correct area. If it is an integrated ballast then simply grab the whole thing and try turning it counter clockwise to release it, I am not sure for your exact car but that is generally how I would approach it.

EDIT: I looked up your part, that is indeed just the ballast and there is a wire that comes out the bottom of that module that leads to the actual bulb/connector so it is just a rotation CC to get it to come off. Grasp the entire ballast and rotate it, the black plastic with "DENSO" on it is the base of the part that will rotate.

Yes, that panel was the whole ballast but turns out there were ozram zenarc 4300k bulbs in there already and the build quality is so much better than the diode dynamic ones that I'm putting the old one back in.
I thought diode dynamics being a vendor here the quality would be good but they look like rebranded Chinese parts. Oh well...now I know how to do it lol.

Yep, I personally use Phillips or Osram only. Everything else tends to be really sub-par when you put them next to those two....

Also the bulb wouldn't work because, if you compare the pic of the 2 bulbs you can see the ozram has 2 mounting notches in the face of the housing while the diode dynamic one has 5. doesn't matter which way the element sits but the ballast connector is a rectangle and is supposed to sit with the cable in the 6 o'clock position...because the other bulb is kinda generic the cable is either at 3 or 9 o'clock and shortens the cable enough to interfere in one direction with AFS operation and the long side of the ballast connector is like a hair from the back of the housing.
