How to remove 12V battery
My 12V battery died on my 2008 LS600h L-RSR. I bought another one, but cannot get the old one out. There are two additional attachments that I've never seen before on a 12V battery. Hunting around, it seems one is a vent tube, and the other is a temperature sensor. The new battery has the correct fittings for these, but I cannot get the temperature probe out of it's connection. I don't want to break it, but I can't see how to do it. Is it a friction fit or is there a release clip that I can't see ? I'm completely stuck because the battery leads won't reach the new battery if I can't get the old one out, and the car is dead without it.
Anyone have any ideas ?
Thanks Rod

Well I finally did it, but it was by the radical method of cutting the cable as it went into the old battery. Once it was free, it was easier to see that it's not a friction fit, it's a very fiddly lug tht holds it in place. It seems to be neither visible or accessible with the battery in place, and maybe needs a special tool ?? Any, I did manage to force the two halves apart and attach to the new battery without breaking anything. Time taken, 4.5 hours. Time to attach new battery, replace carpets and tidy up - 5 minutes
Like so many things, it's fiendishly over engineered, but I'm usually glad of that
Thanks for the offer of help, but the car runs like new again, apart from the fact that it runs on the engine all the time. Haven't persuaded it to run only on electric yet
