Hi all...Purchased New-To-Me 2008 LS 460
Hello all….My name is Jae and I’m the proud new-to-me owner of a 2008 LS 460 SWB w/ only 25k miles! My 1st Lexus!! (Posted in Roll Call as well didn't know if 1st post needed to be a new thread)
Bought her Dec, 2020 and soon discovered this forum. Don’t want to ramble too long before thanking each and everyone of you for the amazing info you have added to this forum. I look forward to deep diving into past discussions as well as hopefully adding to this outstanding group as much as I can.
Making this as short as possible. I have always loved the “Big Body” Lexus line since eyeing the 04-06 430’s. Since about 2015, I had been on the lookout for a cream puff with low mileage that maybe a retired person gently owned. No such luck or too far of a distance to physically inspect, drive , etc; I soon gave up on the 430’s and quickly became excited about the 4th gen...07’ and up. So with taking my time and scouring the internet year after year, not to mention, asking around at local dealerships….one literally fell in my lap, during COVID season (2020).
I received a call from a dealer/ broker/ friend that had a friend in GA selling my soon to own LS430.
Quick Backstory: It was bought new in 2008 as a retirement gift for “Mrs. Taylor” (Changed name for privacy purposes) a retiring accountant at a Law firm in Ga where she had worked for 30+ years!! From 08-16 it was a grocery getter, only having one issue where she hit a doe and cracked the headlight. 2016 she had an abrupt health issue that affected her confidence to drive and it sat around draining batteries or driven once or twice a month by her son. 2020 she / son decide to sell it. My friend’s friend bought it and down the yellow brick road... it made it to me.
Paid $17k, I actually feel fortunate to know the story and sort of feel honored driving Mrs. Taylor’s gift. No worries as I plan to treat it as one. Here are a few pics:
1st Pic of my baby (it was 30 degrees, but had to snap one LOL)
Miles!! (Time capsule / Cream Puff Status)
She had the window sticker in the glove box!! #Sweet

Congrats, it looks "like new"! Have you checked if it had any recalls done? Any mechanical repair history?

No.. the actuator nor the C.A's have been changed out. Locked and Loaded $$ for when that time comes though (thanks to reading up on this forum).
My friend said everything seems to be sound and soild. Road tested and he hooked it up to his laptop, etc He was really impressed.
The son stated (had a chance to actually chat with him) that the cracked head lamp and some bumper scuffs (which he had buffed out at the time of the incident) are the only issues it had. The CarFax aligned with their info as well.

I would change the brake fluid due its age, you could save thousands.

Congratulations. I would check if it is eligible for the ZLZ program and have it inspected as soon as possible if eligible as the program expires at the end of the month for model year 2008.

Congrats , Change all the fluids . 13 years of moisture is not good at all . I think your LS is the lowest millage 2007-2009 I have ever seen .

Yeah...think I was a bit misleading. All fluids have been changed. The brakes are less than a year old and from the looks and feel of the brake fluid, my friend stated fluid was new / had been changed recently.

Nice diamond in the rough find, but be prepared to shell out thousands for a brake actuator, control alarms and the infamous dash/door panel cracks – if the time comes, in the mean time enjoy !!

Great find. As an old car sales guy I like new condition used. You found your unicorn it seems.
i REALLY enjoy our 08 SWB bought 3 years ago with 54k miles. now 106k.
akebono ceramic pads really improved the braking.
michelins improved the ride and handling.,
different light bulbs changed the headlights from too yellow to whiter. Much better.
