I'm not sure about 2007 through 2009 models, but 2010 and newer LS vehicle identification numbers do provide some information.
The 4th character is decoded as follows on 2010 and newer:
"B" = 460 short wheelbase rear wheel drive
"C" = 460 short wheelbase all-wheel drive
"G" = 460 long wheelbase rear wheel drive
"D" = 460 long wheelbase all-wheel drive
The 6th character is decoded as follows on 2010 and newer:
"1" = rear side airbag equipped (part of Ultra Luxury and Executive Class Rear Seating packages)
"5" = no rear side airbags
As others have indicated, to determine precise equipment it is best to utilize the Lexus drivers site.
