Control Arm on LS460
I have a 2013 LS460 and the control arm needs to be replaced at only 82,000 km. I am really disappointed having to spend this kind of money at such low mileage. Has anyone else had an early issue with this on this model. Not my expectations from a Lexus vehicle, our last one went to 435,000 km with no issues except the usual maintenance. The one prior to that also great in the maintenance department.
Its a common problem on the 4LS. As far as I know it was an issue all the way to MY 2017. The ones on my 2008 were bad at 50k, now it has 95k and they're bad again. Welcome to modern luxury. I am purchasing Polyurethane bushings and replacing the ones in the OEM control arms with these. The issue is the design, not anything we can do to correct that, so I will just use something stronger than rubber. It is a heavy car, and should never have had rubber bushings anyway.
I picked up our 2015 with 45,000 miles on it on Friday, 1/31/25, after all eight control arms were replaced by my local dealer. I asked the same questions. My Service Advisor stated that this is typically an age issue, not mileage, as well as the weight of the car. He also said that that the labor required to R & R the control arms makes it advisable to replace all. I wasn't expecting such a major issue, but glad it is completed. My original service request was for an LOF and tire rotation. Their inspection revealed failing bushings.
