Hi guys, my buddy has a 2016 ES 350, and the rubber is melting on the hood seal right above the headlights. It sits outside a lot, but I've never seen rubber melt in a car. The stuff came off on my hands.

I would inspect the wires underneath it

Any headlight wiring work done recently ?

Did you try looking under the plastic part does it look good from under ?

Quote: Looks more like a chemical destroyed it than it melting. Rubber won’t melt at those low temps
My thought exactly. Most likely a drip of brake fluid or some other solvent has caused that? If it is only on the one side, even more evidence that it is not a defect in the seal material.
