2008 LS460 with 66,000 miles for 17k + tax and license
Hi guys, I’ve been browsing for a used LS and found one at Newport Lexus with clean title and one owner, all previously serviced in Newport. I’d be switching from an 2011 ES350, they originally wanted $18,800 + tax and license I was able to offer 17k + tax and license. Is this a good deal to jump on? The dealer had been calling me saying they’re able to make the sale for that price. Let me know if I should take it. The car would be sold as is.
I drove the vehicle around and did not hear any noise from then suspension, car drove like butter. Suffice to say it was in great shape for a 2008 all around. Let me know if you think I should take the deal or further negotiate?
thanks in advance!

Yes, I’ll still need to go one more level of checking service records. The Carfax report provided showed that the car has been regularly serviced at the dealer from date of purchase until now. But I definitely will check the VIN on Lexus website. Other than that how’s the offer? Is this a fair deal or a good deal? Or not even a good deal at all.

Don't do anything until the pricing experts get a chance to post
personally I think it is a $13-14,000 car
someone traded it in and the dealer maybe gave him 11-12 for it and is marking it up the usual massive amount
You already know that minute you walk out of the dealership after signing papers you will have lost at least 4k in resale
On the other hand who cares about the money if you really like and want it and its service record is good
edit: in no manner is $17,000 a good deal

Sounds good, I’m just trying to get a temperature check on the car. I appreciate everyone’s insight as to what to do and the ballpark it should be at. KBB has this valued at $15k, but understand the dealerships always mark up the vehicle. Given that, I’m just trying to get a sense of whether this is an actual good deal or not.

Take it to a Toyota dealership and have them do a PPI, I test drove a LS460 for 45 min and it did not make any suspension noises, then I had it put on a lift with a PPI done at a Lexus dealership and it was making all kinds of noises afterward and they were talking about thousands of dollars replacing parts.
Don't let a dealership rush you into spending more then you should on a car, there is no reason they can't go lower then 17K. 17K is too high for a 2008 with over 60K miles, 2008's had some possible engine issues and some other issues that were addressed in 2010+ I believe. Most I would pay is 14 or 15K OTD and one in perfect condition. For 17K + tax and other fees I would be looking to 2009-2010. It's not a good deal at all, priced way too high.

I'd say it's a little high based on seeing similar cars with good service history and around the same miles for $17k when I was looking back in late 2017.

i think its too much. i paid $14k for my 2010, and it only had 98,000 miles.

Mark Levinson audio? Does it have comfort plus package (recline rear seats and leather armrests) ? If so that would make it a rare LS460 and $15,500 should then be the max price

I'll assume you will all toss tomatoes at me for having overpaid for mine. Last week I bought a single owner 2010 AWD, air-ride, ML, 57 service records (at the Lexus dealer), with 43K on the clock (smokey granite mica, gray interior). Clean as a whistle (10/10 in all respects -- not a single imperfection) -- inside and out. If you're looking at dollars alone it was ~$21.8 out the door, but I was also trading in my LX. The dealer gave me more that I paid for the LX about 5 months ago at $16.5K. I added in a CUNA platinum service contract for another $1,300, so the out of pocket was ~$6,600.
Could I have paid less? Probably. But the LS was cherry, and it's covered for issues. $21.8 felt fine for a car that's tough to come by in MN. CA may be a different market though.
Commence flaming.
