Default TPMS Problem

(2011 LS460) Did a search and couldn't find my particular problem. What's happening is the tire pressure warning light is coming on, first blinking for one minute and then just staying on. I tried the reset procedure as described in the manual but was no help. Tires are at proper pressure including the spare. The manual says if the warning light stays on to have the dealer check the system. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I would bet you have a sensor that died (battery). I had that happen on my 2007, no matter the levels it would say low/error.

Stop by your local tire shop. Ask them to check it out. When mine went out, They replaced it, programed it, re-mounted the tire/balanced, it was like $53...

They have sensor they walk around the car with that tells what one is reporting/not reporting.

I'd avoid the dealer for this issue, UNLESS You need to. It will cost a lot more than $60 for them to check it out.

Ive had that happen in both my 460's but for me it was I had the pressure too high, I like mine at no less then 40 psi and that's not what it was set too so it threw the same warning on the dash

Happened on a GX470 I had as well, dead battery for sure. Avoid the dealer as someone else said, total rip off. I went to America's Tire and got all 5 yes 5 on the GX the spare has a sensor as well, your LS should only have 4...anyhow you can get just the 1 replaced and they reprogram your car for under $65-70. They can also check the batteries of the other sensors as well with their machine.

tpms blinking is a malfunction. Usually sensor communication error, in that the computer can not see the sensor (usually due to a dead battery in the sensor).

Happened to me 2 years ago. I had bllinking TPMS warning light for a minute or so then it stayed on.
Tire pressure x 4 were normal (35-37 psi). Dealer said 2 TPMS were not communicating with the car computer due to possible weak or dead TPMS batteries.
Sensors replaced for free under CPO/VSA.

If you're out of warranty go to America's Tire for $60-75 each, including labor and reprogramming.

Thanks, i guess it's the battery then. We have no America's Tire in the S FL area so I guess I'll try Costco. I think I'll wait til I replace the tires, probably a year from now, as I might get a better deal since the tires are off. I rarely look at tire pressure info anyway, as I check pressures frequently, and I wouldn't think it would hurt anything by puttting it off. I'll probably replace them all at the same time.

I think of you leave the warning up there long enough that it will eventually trigger the triangle which will make any other potential problem that might come up. Being that you will think it's still related to the TPMS. I'm sure someone else will chime in to confirm or deny. Just putting it out there.

The LS has 5, all the tires including the spare.

Any tire shop can do this job. I used Town Fare tire here in CT...

I guess it's all how much it annoys you. For me, it was driving me nuts to have the blinking light on the dash. Over all, it's like a $50-60 job for most places. Call around to tire shops, tell them you think you have a dead battery in one of the sensors.

Ask for a estimate.

If your buying tires, it will cost the same, if you get new tires, they transfer them over (might charge a small fee for them)

Well, the light was no longer on when I drove the car today. It's been about a week now since it came on. Glad I didn't take it in although I realize it may appear again.
