Bought a 2011 LS460L Black/Black
- Rear passenger side window shade wasn't going up. I was was almost going to pass on the purchase but decided to buy thinking I can fix it. It turns out the window was not up all the way. I couldn't tell by looking at it but it wasn't. I looked up this forum after bringing the car back and was able to fix it for FREE.

- Passenger seat warmer/cooler button was stuck. Push button mechanism is not working. I was able to pull it out but have told family not to push it in again but just turn if they need to use it. I am wondering if anyone had this issue and if there is an easy fix.
- Rear view mirror was loose. Searched forum and found out there is an Allen bolt holding the mirror. I tightened it a bit and play almost went off. There is a slight play but it looks like it is on the mirror side. Hopefully I can fix that too.
- Driver side armrest is cracking and at the edge pieces have fallen off. I searched the forum and it look like this has been an issue since 2007 models. It would have been great if those pieces were leather wrapped to begin with. Lexus failed on this one and continued to provide a low quality part until 2012. I am not looking to throw ton of money at it. I am probably going to come up with a reasonably priced (cheap. lol) fix.
- This is probably a big one and saw it only when I brought the car back home. Car has a known accident history. As per the seller it was professionally repaied. Front bumper is not aligned perfectly with hood and headlights. Passenger side is fine but on driver side there is a gap between hood and bumper and headlight and bumper. This is a Florida car and was repaired in Miami. Sky is not falling and so is not the bumper.
I am going to try to fix this in next few months. Right now i just want to enjoy the car. - Another thing I discovered after the purchase is that some part covering battery is missing. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/FVFoW9HXsn0/maxresdefault.jpg
I do not understand how some sellers say they have "meticulously" maintained the car when only thing they did is oil changes and washed it at carwash places.

Interior was not ripped but needed serious detailing. Leather probably never saw conditioner and those door armrests, glove box, and other plastic pieces probably never saw cleaners/dressing. There had white residue all over. Yuck.
I highly recommend Meguiar's G18905 Ultimate Leather Balm for leather. It is very easy to apply and seats now look (and smells too) new. I have used other leather products but this was the best to get uniform coverage and no mess.
I also recommend Meguiar's G4016 Supreme Shine Protectant for plastics and those armrests. They also now look new except for the driver side cracked armrest and some areas where there is a discoloration. I am going to fix the discoloration in next few weeks. That should be easy to do.
Overall, an awesome car. Drove about 70 or so miles with the family today and we all loved it.
It has soft door closures. I don't know if it is standard but I wasn't expecting it to be there.
Programing garage door opener/home link was a challenge but eventually I got it with the help of a forum post.

I have been waiting for LS460 with long wheelbase for a while and didn;t want to wait any longer. 2011 & 2012 L versions are hard to come by. 2013 & up L models are a huge price jump. I had to compromise on the color. I like black color therefore liking it is not an issue. I would have preferred the smokey granite color though. There was one for sale just 2 month ago but the stars were not aligned and I missed it.

I just made an offer on a vette, and after he accepted I asked for the paperwork regarding his claims that the car was "done properly and professionally" at a well known , reputable performance shop, and of course he has nothing.
So ive backed out
Thanks. I don't think I am going to miss it much.
This from Lexus site is actually a pretty good manual although it says it is not a substitute for the main owner's manual. http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/do...f/OM50843U.pdf

I hear you. My LS430 is silver because I had a midnight blue (almost black) 7 series bimmer before that. Black shows dust just 10 minutes after detailing. Silver doesn't need a wash for months.

I just bought a 2010 LS460L in Smoky Granite Mica that checks most of your boxes (but it does have Air Suspension and 18 inch wheels, which I actually prefer for an ultra-smooth ride). I've always had silver cars also, and they are amazingly easy to keep looking good (but never really look amazing). I'm enjoying the Smoky Granite color so far, and I like the black interior way more than I expected I would. Enjoy your new LS!
I’m late out of the gate, but congratulations on your LS purchase.
Mine is a 2010L also, and I love this car.
Hope we you have many happy miles and smiles.

I recommend you don't give up on finding a nice SC430! Those cars are totally unique, and are ridiculously reliable (even more so than the LS). I keep an eye on the prices for the nice SC430s, and they seem to still be dropping (I keep thinking the low mileage well kept SCs may actually start rising in value one day since there is still a pretty strong following). I paid $25K for my "cream puff" 2006 (17K miles at the time). I see very low mile, 1-owner SC430s selling in this range on CarGurus fairly frequently. I really only drive mine on warm summer days (date night car), but plan to keep it indefinitely, as there's really no other convertible available with the combo of reliability, affordability, and classic amazing looks the SC430 gives.
