Hello All

Recently purchased a 2009 ls 460. Love it.

When I test drove the car a couple times I checked the seat heaters to make sure they were working....they were. In the last couple weeks I've had to use them for the first time. I was excited how quickly they heated up. After a short time it felt they weren't on anymore. Did some searching here and read a couple things that might explain the issue.
1) the front seat heaters are on a timer and shut themselves off (15 minutes?).
2) the front seat heaters are tied into the climate control system and...

It is clear that they are turning off (or at least turning down significantly). Some questions...

--Anyone know if it is time or climate control related?
--Can this be defeated? I've read the dealer can do it but I'm not sure that is the case for every model. I've tried holding both buttons down and waiting for a beep (read that in another thread) but that doesn't appear to work on my 2009. I would be happy to cut a wire!

Thanks for any help

I used mine today, I set the remote starter (as it was chilly this morning) for about 10 min before I got in and the seats were nice in warm, I had to turn them down about 20 min in my ride.

If I get time this weekend I will check out Techstream to see if there is a an option for that. I don't believe there is but, I'll check.

I don't think they're on a timer as far as I can tell. Mine typically get really warm, almost uncomfortably so that I have to turn them down. Never had them tun off.

I thought they don't work unless they sense that you're actually sitting on the seat? I've started my car a few times in below zero weather but I don't think they ever turned on without me sitting down. I know the passenger one definitely doesn't work unless someone is sitting on the seat.

Not sure about that on the drivers side. In my car, I turned them on last night before shutting it off. I used my remote start this morning, and it was sitting there for like 10 min. When I got in the car, the driver's seat was nice and warm. No question it was on. If it's a broken seat sensor, cool (LOL)

The big thing I hate is the heated steering wheel turns off when you turn off the car, so it's worthless for remote start
