Default Plastic on metal strip on roof

I had two new metal strips put on the roof recently (the long thin metal strip going from windshield to back deck). They both are covered with a plastic film. Should that be removed? Can I just peel it off myself and not mess anything up? Thanks.

To the plastic film match the color of the car and is it real thin? If so it should not be removed.

I'm assuming it is color coded to the paint. If so you should not remove it. However, it may come off on its own eventually. I had the passenger side peel off outside of warranty and Lexus replaced it as a courtesy. When the driver's side started to peel about a year later, they wouldn't do anything.

Thanks. It's clear plastic ( the metal beneath is same grey as the body ) and is already beginning to peel off on the opposite side. I'll just go ahead and peel it all off.

Ah, OK, that is just a protective strip used for shipping. Whoever put the strips on should have removed it.

Just curious, did you buy these strips?

A local repair shop had one of their employees put it on. They ordered it. They are usually more detailed in their work than this was. Metal is on solid though. This is a local shop used by two or three insurance companies for high-dollar vehicles. Just something overlooked which I can overlook myself.
