Exclamation change TPMS IDīs on a 2006 LS 460 with Techstream and Mini VCI

Hallo from germany,

I just become exasperated and frustrated. I only need to change the TPMS IDīs of my LS 460 with Techstream and some Mini VCI cables. I can read and erase DTCīs but itīs not possible to change the IDīs or reset the transmission-memory.

I tried to do this with Techstream 8.00.034 and 10.10.018 and Mini VCI cable with firmware 1.4 and 2.04. If I make the cable test with Techstream it shows that the CAN-protocol is ok, but K-Line and L-Line are not supported.

Is the missing K-Line protocol the reason for this trouble?

Is there any LS 460 driver who was able to change this settings with a working techstream and mini vci configuration?

Please no discussion about to go to the dealer shop - I want to change this 4 datafields with 7 digits of my own - I donīt want to be disappropriated by the manufacturer...and I see no reason to by a extrem expensive mongrrose cable with hardware included of 5$...

Thanks a lot

Andreas

Hallo,

if nobody has mini VCI working on an LS 460 - then may be there is a possibility to bypass the tpms system with idīs where it does not search for or any sensors or another hardware trick like it works on older lexus models?

I only want to deactivate it if I canīt change the 4 senor idīs with techstream myself...

many thanks

Andreas

If you can read the TPMS id. in the ECU, use utility to change it. I can do it on my RX450h without any problem. Just don't hit the reset button under the dash. If you do you'll get yellow warning light. Using utility you have 5 minutes time limit to enter 4 ids. My Techstream version is 12.10. 019.

Hallo,
I donīt think that the techstream is the problem. I can read the idīs - but changing is the typical error.

So the main question is what type of cable do you exactly use? Firmware 2.0.4? What is the result of a cable test? Is k-line or l-line supported? Reseller of this working cable?

Many thanks

Andreas

You can access and read TPMS id. Cable is not the problem. (Mini VCI cable, XHorse or Xhorse clone ones ) Check some Youtube for the instructions.
If you have problem maybe Main Menu is older version. Replace it with newer one. Again Peruse Youtube. I have Autel MS501 as well so I can do it
with it or read ids. with MS501 , use Techstream to register. Or by any chance are you using 64 bit version which is known to be finicky. I use W7 Pro 32 bit
OS. Good luck.

Any update on this? Sorry for reviving an old thread but I just joined the LS460 brotherhood. I’ve read that the mini cvi cables won’t work for this function? Is this true? I get an error everytine I go in to register the I’d numbers of the new sensors. Can anyone confirm that the carista app can do this?

Yes, Carista app worked on mine.

To save potential headaches; thanks to MX73's post, I bought this cable and finally got my sensors registered. It simply worked perfectly, while the 1.4.x cable I got from AliExpress earlier just wouldn't do it regardless of installed Techstream version.

Hi JMLS, I've got a 2007 LS460 (US version but was imported to Europe in 2008) and I have Carista app and the OBDC dongle but every time i add the new TPMS IDs it only works for 30 km or so and then the TPMS warning light comes on telling me i need dealer assistance. Did you get Carista to fix things permanently? Thanks Stu

Hi Stu, I subscribed the Carista app for one week in order to program TPMS ID. It did work. I did not need to reprogram again. Maybe ask Carista support for your case.
