My neighbor has a fx35 with broken seat motor, broken amplifier, broken door handle. He said it's a POS...

Nissan is a shell of itself since the merger with the French, Yes, the FM platform is capable and has been used in everything they offer with the exception of the Nissan Patrol based QX56 (1st gen QX was junk, 2nd gen is legit as the Patrol is a true competitor to the Land Cruiser and is purchased by the metric crapton by the UN, NGO's in the most inhospitable places, etc. While they are using the Patrol, the QX is a true variant and comparative to the $100,000 LC/LX is an absolute steal and a very well made vehicle.

Default Yes

New to this model upgraded from a 98 ES 300 as my daily driver a few weeks ago and without a doubt, yes!

What I love about buying a used Lexus is ability to check dealer service history before buying. So if you check that and its been dealer maintained, no issues noted in recent visits, and test drive checks out go for it! Also helps if you're a DIY'er and know a good mechanic for more complex jobs. I also got a 100k/5yr powertrain and electrical warranty for peace of mind.

Car shines the most on the highway, smooth as silk, comfortable, incredible brakes, amazing sound system (I have premium not ML-use the equalizer!) and tons of looks! Absolutely smitten here.

The reality is cars have not changed that drastically since the introduction of the 460 when talking about non EV's. The first years still have an 8 speed transmission and very high tech engine, etc.
I agree. Same badass car much cheaper price and an awesome touch screen. I use XM so don't care about streaming through my phone.

The guitarist in my band has a 2008 GS 350 with about 60K miles on it. Both he and his wife say it's the best car they have ever owned. But when she saw the leg room in my 2008 LS 460 she said she wanted my car, because she sits a lot in the back seat. My 2008 LS has just under 30K miles on it and everything works. Can't complain.

Well Guys, I bought one for $15,750 . 2008 Ls460, Black with light gray interior 90K miles exact. Full loaded I believe with self park, soft door close, rear reclining seats and Mark Levinson. The price went to $16K when I requested new front tires, the back were replaced a month ago, 2 wheel sensors. Driver side upper control arms were recently replaced. The car was in Cali and Texas from 2008 to 2013 so then undercarriage in great shape. The only downside it the trunk motor doesn't appear to be working. I need to use the key to open it. I'm going to see if the dealer will fix it. It needed a SERIOUS detail. It was used as a family car until someone bought it. I think he intended to keep it. All his personal stuff was scattered all over the car. Luckily I do detailing as a hobby. It took a weekend to restore it

The LS is truly a majestic automobile. I've owned 2 L430 back in the day and the LS460 recaptures the same feeling. The LS feels HUGE compared to my GS350. It is a wide beast and feels heavy. It has some freight train pull on the highway! The V8 is wonderful and feels way smoother than the Gs350 3.5 V6 which seems to whine when pushed. There is nothing like a V8. Too bad Lexus is going away from the V8 with the next LS. I bet they'll put in the 5.0 V8 later on.

I don't plan to do much to it. I just put in the Beatsonic DVD bypass (no need to remove the screen). I do my routine swaybar link change on all 4 corners to firm up the handling.
My big wish is to score some 5 spoke 19"s. That would really freshen up the look. This is one hell of a car for the price !!

Congrats! I'd loose the chrome door pillars

and just FYI, that's the grey interior not the alabaster interior.

Thanks, the chrome pillars kind of work with the current set up. I personally would never buy them. When the 19s go on then I will probably take them off. My pops want me to also get chrome around the wheel wells

And I thought the interior was an ash gray in the pics, but it is more of an off cream white in person.

It's definitely the grey interior. Alabaster has a brown wood color and is basically white.

I hope you ask this question b/c you want an honest answer.
Congrats on the car…. But I definitely wouldn’t have purchase such an old car. Old cars no matter who makes the car is expensive to own eventually. Plus it’s basically 2018. The technology is 10 years old.You just purchase a 9 year old car for your family when you could have purchase a nice non luxury vehicle with the latest technology with a warranty. But hey you got a Lexus. Its levels….

Thanks for your honesty. Name a few vehicles that I could have gotten instead of the Lexus? At a $16K budget there was nothing out there that I could think of that I would have wanted. Maybe a Toyota highlander, Venza or Avalon but those for around the same mileage or slightly lower goes for the same price if I got something in the 2010-2012 year range maybe. Most are out of warranty. The technology in the Ls460 is not dated to me. The HD navigation screen looks better than most new car with Nav.
I looked for 4 months but nothing out there of any interest to me. I'm not scare of Lexus ownership out of warranty. Now I would be a fool if I bought a 2008 Mercedes S550 or BMW 750I . Those would be possible nightmares to own!

I have a beater Camry that the wife and I share. So the LS460 will probably stay under 100K miles for the next 2 years. I should be able to private sale it for around $13K-$14K if I choose too after that. I keep my cars immaculate so I am sure I'll get that price. I sold my 2007 GS350 with 88K miles for $14,500 this year.

I Agree with you. My '08 looks new and drives like new and far better than ANYTHING else I've driven lately. Tech? I have heated steering, Bluetooth (via a vaistech module), remote start, a Mark Levinson stereo that's still unbeaten by anything else out there. etc etc etc. I'd rather drive a 10 year old LS than a brand new corolla, Mazda 3, or Ford Focus. Reliability? With 130k miles my car is still the most reliable car I've ever owned.

What "technology" is 10 years old on the LS that has been improved so much for new cars? It mainly boils down to some low quality music apps/prettier nav screens. Many people including me absolutely hate touchscreens in new cars and the nav system is not a big deal, as long as it works I don't really care how pretty it is as I hardly ever even use it.

What are you getting with a new non luxury car over a LS460? Again, maybe just some newer low quality audio app capability and maybe a prettier nav screen which many people could care less about, most newer non luxury cars do not have AC seats, a smooth powerful V8, as smooth a ride/ride like a LS, as high quality leather, heated steering wheel, as many adjustments for seats, as many features as the LS460. I would take a older LS460 with fewer apps over a newer non luxury car or even ES any day, that is me though the number of expensive issues the LS460 has been having is giving me second thoughts and the only reason why I would possibly consider something lower end with not as many expensive issues.

The only thing I'd say is dated are the wheels. The 19" 5 spoke would really freshen up the look which is the route I will go. The Ls460 really changes dramatically with a drop and 22 inch wheels. Looks sleek and badass with 22"s. Lexus styling nowadays is too radical. Not the traditional luxury look of old which some still like a lot.
