I wouldn't buy a car with that many miles no.

Gut feel that would be a $12-$15k car - my only concern is at 180k miles you'd probably need to spend $500-$1k in preventive maintenance (i.e. I'd do a tranny flush, rear diff, spark plugs, check out the brake/brake fluid, replace coolant) and that's at a minimum. Curious to see if the suspension is original or has been replaced as well.

Interesting. While heaven knows there are myriad folks who have purchased 430's with similar mileage and have come out smelling like roses, for whatever reason, there are at least here not that many high mileage LS460 owner/posters. There is one gentlemen with around 150,000 miles who posts here who has had an excellent overall experience with a wheel bearing I think being the major repair required.
Last Sunday my friend who purchased an LS430 Ultra Luxury about a week after I purchased my brother's found a 2008 LS460 in Nashville with I think 160,000 miles. I ended up logging into Lexus Driver and it had a thorough service history. The asking I believe was $12,000 and it sold within 2 days.
Compounding the valuation are questions like whether it has the Levinson system, is an "L" model, AWD, semi aniline leather, and air shocks (at that mileage I would pray it had a conventional suspension)
All that said, I would reckon $13,000 is about as high as I would feel comfortable going and that is only after talking to my insurance agent to make sure it is valued that much according to them. All of this truly makes me realize just how blessed I was to find my one owner with 87,000 miles and quite well optioned with a perfect service history negotiated down to $16,500. I did have to spend close to $1000 to repair the dent on the trunk lid, but all comparable I found that were Southern owned were at least $20,000 and usually closer to $23-25,000.

If the price was right, why not? 180k miles on a well-maintained LS wouldn't scare me off in the least....again...if priced right. If it's well-maintained, then it should have had spark plugs replaced, maybe control arms, all fluids changed (brakes, trans and differential), etc. My 08 has over 125k miles, and I would confidently sell it to a friend or family member, knowing it would give them reliable ownership, partly because I have thoroughly maintained it.

I think the question is how much are you going to drive it. If I'm going to buy a car to put 15-20k+ a year on it, its not going to be any car with that kind of mileage...

Wait about 10 years, I think we'll see a similar amount of discussion on very high-mileage LS460s.

Because a car of that age and use, even a very reliable car reliability is a crapshoot. Nothing lasts forever, components wear out and give way, and if I'm putting 20k miles a year on a car that already has 180k miles, I have a car with 240k miles and by the vast majority of people's definition that is a car with extraordinary mileage.

I just got a 2008 LS 460 with 76K from Chandler, AZ. Very clean inside. I got out of a local used car lot for 17600 before tx and lic. My logic is you spend a little more for a vehicle with a lot less miles.

Yeah I would much rather pay $17,500 for a car with 75k miles than $12,500 for a car with 180k miles. So much more life left in that car.
