Default Rear brake Sensor

I need some help, the brake on my 2011 LS460 needs replacement however the sensor never came on but the tech at Cobb Galleria Lexus is trying to get an additional $175 for new sensors. Saying it might go off because the pads were worn down. But if you are putting new pads on the car, why the **** would they go off after the fact. I'm waiting for the tech to call me back because this just sounds like bull****. Also, is the sensor a one time thing and needs replacement every time? Is this normal?

You DO NOT need to replace the sensors unless they "tripped" your warning light. Worst case scenario, you find out later that they DO need replacing, you get them at Rockauto or on Ebay for 10 bucks a piece and replace them. You can do that easily without removing all your brake parts. They just clip into the pads. Leave them be and tell you mecahanic to just reuse your original sensors. I reused mine and most here have too.
EDIT: Just found them for 7 bucks: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Brake-Pa...hYpHE5&vxp=mtr
