Hi everyone, we've been searching for a 460L for a couple of months now. I recall seeing references about 2008 and later MY having laminated windows for a quieter ride. Does that mean 2007 LS 460L models were not introduced with this feature? I tried searching for older threads but was unsuccessful. Thank you.

 

Late production 08's were the first to receive laminated side windows. My earlier 08 missed the run by a few months. regardless, it's still the quietest car I've ever owned. Far quieter than my 7 series BMW was.

 

My new (to me) April 2007 LS460 L has Lamisafe all round.

I bought a new 2007 LS460 in '07. The "wind noise" was so extreme I told the dealer that I was not going to be able to live with it and I had to have something quieter even if it required more money. They told me that the 2007 LS46L had laminated windows on the front doors and would be much quieter. I test-drove an LS460L and it had more wind noise than my LS460 - turns out the wind noise was not related to the glass in the front doors. The noise reduction provided by the thicker glass can not be distinguished by most owners.

The answer to your question: all LS460Ls came with the thicker windows in the front doors.

All of the 2007 LS460s came with single ply windows in the front doors. Most of the '07 LS460s were retrofitted with thicker windows by Lexus dealers at no expense to the owners.

Beginning in 2008, both the LS460s, and the LS460Ls came with the thicker windows in the front doors.

 

To address your question, as I own an 07 L, my windows in the front and rear are laminated.

Correct. IF you have the laminated front side windows, it's because they were retrofitted as per TSB at no charge to the owners if brought to they're attention within the warranty period. They were not factory installed until late 2008.

 

That's not what I tried to say. I tried to say that all LS460Ls, including the 2007 LS460Ls, came with laminated glass in the front doors. Only the 2007 LS460s and a few early 2008 LS460s came without the laminated glass in the front doors. All LS460s from 2009 - 2014 came with laminated glass in the front doors. I am not sure about the newer models.

I am only addressing the glass in the front doors. The rear door glass in the LS460s is a different size than the rear door glass in the LS460Ls. All LS460s, 2007 thru 2014, came with single ply glass in the rear doors.

I am happy to report i have a US spec LS460L from 2007 fully loaded 4 seater and I have lamissafe lexus stamped glass all around...not really looked at the other stamps

 

Same here all around, even the little windows in the back seat... ANOTHER reason why I am GLAD I waited for a LS460L over a LS460 when I was shopping... I almost pulled the trigger on a 2007 LS460 but, backed out for a dealer issue.

 

everyone has their own preference but this level of car is only interesting to me in the L configuration.
