2018 Lexus LS Revealed!!
You know, after paying more attention to the 7 Series for the past couple of weeks, I've noticed that 75% of 7ers I've seen have been the 740i. If that's any indication of the market opinion on flagships with V6s, maybe the V6 LS will do fine (it will).
I think the car looks elegant. I love the lay out. Unfortunately I don’t care much for Lexus Navi system. As far as the engine, it’s no way I would bring a butter knife to a gun fight. I don’t care if the car is faster or nimbler in the corner. It’s Lexus top dog. The car should have a V8 option. This is why a lot people say Japanese car companies copy the German brands. This is nothing new, it’s been done. Yes, the other luxury brands offer a V6. But they also offer a V8 and V12. If I was in the market for a LS. I would definitely wait for the V8 version.

Have faith guys, it will be a very refined, very reliable vehicle.
I think this new LS is going to do wonders for the brand and within its segment. Lexus quality, thoroughly modern, lots of tech, comfort and good looks. The TT V6 is no big deal. Its clearly much more powerful than the outgoing eight. The market likes TT six's right now. We purchased a new body Maserati Quattroporte (special ordered exactly how we wanted it) and choose the TT V6 motor back in 2014. The motor was more than adequate for the car. Plenty of power, excellent sound and great fuel economy. The turbo lag was my only issue that should have not been present. Ferrari is building great turbo charged motors with zero or nearly zero turbo lag, so why not Maserati I thought. Hopefully Lexus has taken care of the main (if not the only?) negative to a TT V6 motor. So far, I like what I see and look forward to getting to drive the new LS500 in the future.
True, in the short term, since that is what most of the rating publications measure. I haven't seen many go past 3 or 4 years. Lexus techs, on the other hand, see the true long term reliability outside that short time period.
That wasn't my intent.
My point was that Lexus is getting away from what made the LS successful to begin with. The 400 and 430 were cars that you could feel good about owning well outside of warranty. I don't think people feel as confident with the 460. After all the issues with my 460L, I certainly wouldn't own one outside of warranty. And now a twin turbo V6? I'll wait to see the engine specs, but that certainly doesn't make me feel more confidence in long term reliability.

Having owned Lexus vehicles for approaching 20 years, I have enough confidence in the brand that I feel confident they can make a reliable TTV6 for the LS500.
All automobile manufactures must change and it just part of the times. Lexus is known for it reliability and the new LS will do well and you will always have loyal customers who wouldn't drive anything else. Personally I wouldn't want to own any late model high end vehicle without a warranty. Long term reliability works well for the LS and have been proven by Lexus although it can have issues like all manufactures.
I just came back from the Washington Auto Show and couldn't believe that the LS500 was absent. That was one of the main reasons why I decided ti go. The Lexus reps said it will be showcased in Chicago, due to a larger audience, and New York. Washington, Dc is one of the nost powerful, influential, and affluent areas in the world. Can anyone give me a better reason why DC was skipped?

You have to understand the DC show is not an industry show, its not an "important" show like Detroit, or New York, or Chicago LA, or Geneva or etc. Its just a local show. Thats why it will be in Chicago, because thats a real industry show.
The DC show never gets just released cars like that. I was surprised it had a new Camry, and that it had a Kia Stinger.
Why would you expect it would be at the DC show?
