Absolutely not. There is no metallic in obsidian whatsoever, it is a pure gloss black.

If it has metallic flake in it it is not OEM obsidian paint.

It could also have some overspray on it or other bonded contaminants that make it look metallic while it really isn't.

Be rest assured that obsidian black IS NOT Metallic. That's what makes it one of the blackest paints in the automotive industry. I read somewhere that it's 97% black.

Hood is indeed aluminum.

Self-healing clear coat supposedly became standard in MY2010, though there is no mention of it in the "official" product information PDFs that you can load from pressroom.lexus.com.

Lastly, while I am writing, I might as well repeat that there is NO metallic in Obsidian. And, FWIW, at one point I had an Obsidian (code 212) sedan next to a Black Onyx (code 202) Lexus truck in the garage (the latter of which I still have), and they were virtually indistinguishable from one another and very, very black.

http://www.lexus.com/documents/broch...S-Brochure.pdf

I looked at 2011 LS broche, there is black opal mica besides obsidian black. I think mine might be the black opal mica color and that color has the sparkles. Now I remember my black car looked more shiny than other 2010 black LS460 I shopped this summer.

That's certainly what it is then. That's an unusual color, I don't believe I've ever seen one that color in person.

I googled black opal pearl, that's not it. That explains why I didn't remember a second black, black opal pearl much like black sapphire pearl is actually a dark metallic blue:

I really like my black mica, it really add some fun to the black and less easy to show scratches comparing to the pure black. Without direct sun, they looks very close.
My black opal mica

the obsidian black 2010 LS I didn't buy because of very stiff air suspension

Look at the picture I posted above. Unless your car has a dark blue metallic it's not black opal mica either.

Do you know what the paint code is? I'm curious now.

What it looks like is stargazer black which never came on the LS as far as I know
