Default Cabin Air Filter

I am changing my cabin air filter and need to know which way air flows. Is it flowing from bottom of the dash up or top of the dash down? Thanks!

I don't have an 07 but I'm assuming the filter you removed had an indicator, try checking it and do a direct swap.

It's all in the DIY forum.

Be sure you do it correctly or it can end up a very expensive filter replacement.

I have 2010 LS 460L with rear AC. I just checked and do have the rear AC cabin Filter. There is no model number on the filter. Just DML. Is the filter number for the rear the same as for the front? I have never looked at the front for fear of braking the door and have always had the dealership do it. But the dealerships charge a arm and leg to change these filters and based on this thread I think I am going to give the front a shot. I just checked the back and it is a snap once you figure how to get the cover off. So same Part Number front and rear? Also where is the best place to buy?

Thanks

Dennis

You could remove the front filter and compare to the rear filter. If they are identical, you have your answer.

It looks like the front one is part #87139-50100 and the rear one is part #87139-50050. I'm using Lexus of South Atlanta's website for reference. You can call your local Lexus dealer and confirm.

Ok I took the plunge and pulled the front cabin air filter (Not that big of a deal) made sure AC was on recirc. My question is do most folks run the Denso Charcoal Filter/or Non Charcoal filters I called the Parts Desk at Lexus of Omaha and the correct charcoal front filter is the 87139-50100 and the rear is 87139-50050. The correct front non charcoal filters are 87139-07010 and 87139-52020. On looking on the web there are lots of choices. On Rockauto they only list the Denso by brand for the Non Charcoal but not the Charcoal. Lots of charcoal choices, Wix, Fram, Tyco, ACDELCO etc.

Thoughts?

Personally, I use whatever is cheapest on Ebay. Sometimes that is a charcoal filter and sometimes it's just a regular one. I dont pay more than 6-10 bucks.

How often do you change? Do you check regularly or does a dirty filter throw a code?

No code and it has no effect on your cars engine performance. According to the service schedule, it's every year or 10k miles. Personally, I change it every 12-18 months regardless of mileage and I have it programmed in my maintenance minder in the car's navigation screen to remind me.

Changed mine a couple of weeks ago. Went to the dealer and picked up the OEM one. The air was clean before, it's even cleaner now if that makes sense. I plan to change it once a year.
