I've had no issues but has anyone every had the brake hold let loose by itself?

 

That's a great question and something I always worry about. I don't use the hold feature very often because I'm mostly a highway commuter who spends little time in traffic, but when I do use it I've had zero issues with it. But in the back of my mind I do wonder about the thing...or worry I'll accidentally tap the gas pedal with my foot and unexpectedly release it without paying attention to the car in front of me.

I've never seen or heard of a brake hold feature before getting this car, I'm surprised it's even legal (but I'm not complaining).

 

I use it all the time in traffic and have never had an issue, like Doublebase said, I would be worried about tapping the gas on accident, lol.

 

I have used it on hills in tight traffic and it never had an issue. Even though I have confidence I think the natural resting position of my foot will always be by the brakes anyways.

 

Initially I barely used it but now I find it convenient and useful. No issues at all

 

I use it every single time I drive the car and have never had an issue. Ever. Hills, traffic, snow. Doesn't matter. Never an issue

 

Does anyone know if it times out? That's really my only curiosity.. Otherwise it seems to work great on my '13.

 

One of my favorite features that I honestly thought I'd never use, but I use it daily!

 

It does time out on my 07 , which then applies the regular brake.

 

Before I changed the pads to Akebonos, hold used to creep slightly when on a downhill slope. Now, it is rock-solid.

 

No issues either. Nice that you can't just accidentally turn it off without having your foot on the brake first. I use it in drive thru's, a must have IMO esp if its busy lol. Also if I'm stopped a light for a while.

 

The HOLD feature was new to most Lexus drivers with the '07 models.

Several owners had operational problems with the time-out and other safety interlock features.

One thing that I want to point out is that the driver's door doorjamb-switch is a very important part of the safety system that protects drivers while they are using the HOLD feature. Many of the doorjamb switches have turned out to be defective and it is not always apparent when they no longer work. If you are using the HOLD feature, be sure to verify that your doorjamb switch works.

 

No issue here, like the feature a lot and I miss it when I drive the van.

Interestingly my cousin's new Honda Civic has the feature also...

 

No issues on mine either. I use it off on and one but in the off chance you leave it engage for about 2 minutes or so it applies the parking brake. But I've never had it auto-release without pressing the gas pedal.

 

Since I don't usually commute in traffic, I rarely use this function. However, when I do I try to stop a little further away from the car in front of me than I usually do. The thought always crosses my mind if this system releases, I could bump the car in front of me before I hit the brake.

However, it has never let go.
