Who is on an extended oil change interval?
There is plenty of debate about oil products and change intervals. Please post your change interval (months and miles), oil type (viscosity and brand), and filter (brand and composition), and any observations you would like to add.

Dealer oil change every 5 K miles with synthetic 0-w20 on this LS. I know I can go longer OCI but why?
It's not expensive and you drive a luxury car.
I drive 12 K miles annually so I basically have it done every 5 months.
All my other cars are DIY oil changes with full synthetic oil and I follow the manufacturer's OCI schedule as well.
I feel the car runs and shifts smoother with new engine oil.

I'm going with the manufacturer recommended 10K interval right now. Dealer did the first one (free) and I did the second one myself. Toyota 0W-20 full synthetic and Toyota filters (local Toyota dealer had a sale on filters for $4@ - I bought 5). I drive 15-20K/year so miles rather than months is always the driver. I have never done it before, but may send used oil out for analysis after next change. I'll admit to being a little nervous about a 10K interval - I've been changing on a 5K interval on all my vehicles for decades! 5K interval seems to work OK - I routinely have run vehicles to 250-300K miles regardless of manufacturer (Fords, Lincolns, Toyotas, Nissans).

I've used the following oils:
Castrol 0w20-met requirements
Mobil1 0w30-too early to tell but no weird startup noises (34mpg@70mph).
Royal Purple 5w30-pretty good/no noises but I dumped it at 4,500 miles/very good mileage

Just did my oil change today at 10k miles. Sending my sample to Blackstone Labs for analysis. TGMO 0W20
Previous oil change was done at 8k miles on the same oil and the Lab results came back great. 10k should be good too.

Use Lexus approved “Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” or
equivalent to satisfy the grade and viscosity shown
below. 5w20 or 0w20 All climates.
The 0W portion of the oil viscosity rating indicates a characteristic of the
oil which allows cold startability. Oils with a lower value before the W
allow for easier starting of the engine in cold weather.
l The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the oil viscosity when the oil is at its operating
temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity may be better suited if the
vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load condition.

I ran my 91LS on 15k intervals for the Oil and 5K intervals for the filter with no issues. I soon plan on doing the same with my new 2010LS. Oil will be Mobile 1 Full Syn W/Lucas Syn additive.
