Default Air bag scratch.

I managed to scratch the air bag while making a turn somehow . Must be a curse of some sort as I was wearing a newly acquired Submariner that day, Father's Day I might add.
The scratch is right on top of the air bag cover and is about an inch long.
Is it possible to change the cover alone? Or is it the whole air bag ?

Anything I can do to smoothie the scratch out so it's less visible?
I can try to forget it , but is hard when it's right there in front of you.

Thanks in advance.

I think without replacing the air bag it will not be perfect. Some people have actually repainted the rubber parts of the steering wheel when they start to fade but since it is just a scratch I don't think this will work so well.

Vinyl repair specialists would be less expensive. Someone like Dr. Vinyl or ask your dealership who they use for vinyl/seat repair. Nice Father's Day gift

The cover and the airbag are all one piece, they don't separate unless the airbag is deployed...

Thanks guys. I was afraid that the cover was stuck to the air bag.

Oh well.
Gonna have to live with it.

Thanks again.

It would be cool to replace it with a stitched leather version like the LS600, that's the one place I wish they would have used leather instead of plastic on the LS460.

I started looking more closely at my steering wheel since reading your post, and realized that the 2010-12 Sport steering wheel has leather side panels (where the hold and rare radar cruise buttons are). The leather is so smooth and wrinkle-free that it looked like rubberized plastic, but no, it is leather! http://www.mibz.com/wp-content/uploa...sportfd_17.jpg
