please dont tint the windshield dark... i do recommend tinting the windshield though as it will help protect your eyes from UV rays and protect your dash from melting.

i recommend Llumar AirBlue80 on the whole windshield. it is pretty much invisible so it will be hard to notice but they add good heat and UV protections for you and your dash. living in FL it is a must do for me.

I read to stay away from metallic and composite tints to avoid GPS cell problems. That leaves old school dye based tints (3 yr warr) or ceramic (life warr) Does this sound right to others? Lived in FL since the 70s and always tinted car windows. Then I owned several Lexus vehicles with factory tinted windows. I'm surprised the LS has no tinting. Is it possible that there's UV IR protection on the glass already? You just can't see it? I just bought my '10 LS on Sat. and am thinking about tint as well. EDIT: Just read an article that states laminated glass has good UV protection and can have IR added at time of manufacturing. That means our windshields and front side windows (laminated) give UV protection at the very least. Not sure what the rear shade can block out.

I have 13% all around, and a light interior. It looks like 25% due to the interior. I often think of going lower and/or doing the windshield.

My 08 came with the tint. The back windows are pretty dark to me. Someone here told me what they thought the % was for front and back, but I can't recall. I'm pleased with the look and it certainly helps with the extreme heat like yesterday!

It definitely has some tint from the factory, if you roll the window down and compare through the window and through the open area, there is definitely some tint, and the windows are UV protective.

I made an appointment tomorrow for Huper Optik, found an installer not too far away, about 30 miles. Worth it IMHO for the product I really want. Cost is $450 for all but the windshield. I may put something light on the windshield down the road, we'll see.

Looking forward to Unsober1's pics!

I went for a drive after posting and rolled down the windows as you mentioned. There is indeed a mild tint. I just traded in an ES350 which had much darker tint. That's why I assumed no tint in comparison. The Huper products sound good. Well worth the investment I'm sure. Plus having the "privacy look" is an added bonus. Please share you experience after tinting has cured.

I ended up going with 20% on my Smokey Granite Mica with gray interior. Tint shop tried to get me to go with 35 because he thought it would blend better with the color of the car. I said no and am glad I did.

I will upload a picture or two this afternoon. Could not be happier with the 20%.

Looking forward to the pics! Smokey granite is a good bit darker than the nebula grey...

Second try. Here are the pictures. Not good quality since they are taken with my iphone4, but I hope they help.

Looks great, darker than what I'm going for but it suits the color of yours.

Steve - If you choose Hüper Optik Nano-Ceramic I'm sure you will really like it. I've used it on many cars and it looks great. It's a wonderful product, and of course works great too. I personally don't even consider another film because I've been so pleased with Hüper Optik.

Apparently I am also struggling with posting picture. Attempt #1. I didn't get the front window done, was going to at 70%. But well..... Wife got a rock chip yesterday and thought it was best to get that taken care of first
