These were easy, pop off the cover, unscrew and unplug BOTH MAFs Spray with cleaner. Let dry, Drop back in, tighten screws and plug back in.

Look at where the air filters are, follow the hoses back and big they are right there...

So, I did the old MAF sensor cleaning this past weekend. I learned all about these (sensitive and touchy) things from my wife's '01 GS430 and the many issues these caused if not cleaned. I never even realized these existed prior to owning a Lexus. Once I discovered them on her ride, it was a night and day difference in throttle response and shifting.

I assume mine have been cleaned (or replaced) at some point in the past, but not knowing when (as I've only put about 1,000 miles on it since buying it), I gave them a good old spray down with MAF cleaner as the car was exhibiting classic indications of horrible throttle response (would just bog down), not want to downshift, etc. Post cleaning of these, it drives like a brand new ride! Doesn't matter if I come off the line quick or am stuck in traffic preventing normal acceleration, it is so much smoother and responsive now.

If you are having any symptoms and have never looked at your MAF sensors, you really have to give them a quick spray clean to see if it helps. World of difference from my experiences on both the GS and now LS.

I thought the same thing when I first located them, but that is a lot more work than it needs to be.

Just remove the entire top of the air filter box and then you have full access to both screws to pop the sensors out of each side. Loosen the hose ring clamps that go to each box, pop the 2 latches on each box and you're good to go!

Same here, disconnected the hose and just lifted it a up a little... Exactly how he said, You don't need angled screw driver to access it..

Has cleaning the MAF resulted in noticeable improvements or did you end up replacing them?

I've done both on my Porsche and understand its pretty easy to do both on the LS460.

Approx. price for new replacement MAFs?

Thanks,

Rv

Default Does The MAF Disconnect Test Work on 2010 LS460

🤔
Hello ALL.

I recently had some work done and noticed that the MAF connectors were broken. However, the wires to the pigtail were not damaged. I'm getting P102 and P010C.

Also got P171, Bank 1, Sensor 2...getting both up and downstream replaced (all 4).

I disconnected both MAF and the car kept running.

I was told it should have shutoff.

I was also told that Lexus LS460s will continue to run.

Help?

AJ

So you replaced the broken MAF sensor and still getting codes after reset? Do you have code reader? MAF sensors aren't much under $75 for OEM toyota.

Hello.

Did not replace MAFs. They are 250 for each. After cleaning them I got P102 and P010C still. Do have a CODE Reader. Check engine light not on yet. Pending Code P171 Bank 1, Sensor 2.

Does the Disconnect Test work with this car?

AJ

If MAF is bad it will cause many issues and codes. Did you clean them with proper MAF spray cleaner and ensure you did not touch the elements? No wiring issues?

Did you ever get this issue resolved? I'm getting the same problem with my 08 LS. The connector is broken on my right side MAF, but the wiring seems to be fine. Also getting system too rich codes in both banks and it seems to be running a little little weird.
