Doublebase

I know what you mean about the Deep Sea Mica. I love the color but somewhat of a PITA keeping it clean. I know when we are driving on the Interstate and some farmer is out working his field and kicking up a lot of dust with the wind blowing it across the road I am in for another wash down.

Yeah the dust shows up like crazy, but when it's clean it's beautiful. You know what I mean.

Quote: Nice update and sounds like you are still in love.. I know that feeling! My SWB 460 was the same color as yours and I loved it but I agree it is a pain to keep clean however I enjoyed keeping her clean.
The color you have now looks pretty sweet...nice looking car.

My warranty is running out and Lexus has been after me aggressively for an extended warranty leaving me voice messages like they are trying to sell me a time share.
That's because they know, (as do you and I), that they stand to make a lot of money on the premium that they charge for it. Warrantys are a serious money maker for them and all the other warranty companies..

The game is rigged. At least when the mob offers you protection for money you understand the deal. With the corporate its about actually brainwashing you into believing you made out better then the house. The house never loses.
The other end of the spectrum of long term profitability is building on a tradition of reputable cars.

That's why I bought my warranty from Tony Soprano at the Bada Bing Insurance Agency. If anything goes wrong with the car they threaten the dealership with union problems unless they fix it for free.

Oh, and I forgot to actually reply to Doublebase.

That car looks fabulous. I would have gotten that color but it wasn't available in 2007. Although I have received many compliments on the color of my LS.

My only problem is I couldn't tell people the official color name, I had to say burgundy. Who the heck knows what color Noble Spinel Mica is?

It wasn't available in 07? My car is an 07. That's weird, you sure? I hope you're wrong...either that or my car has been painted...that would make me very depressed.

Yeah this is strange because mine was an 07 as well.

Could it be based on actual manufacturing date of car? Perhaps 2007's built in late 2007 had that color option as demand increased?

Congratulations, Doublebase! I am also partial to Black Sapphire; it's what I had on my 460L and what I wanted on our GS 350. I do, admittedly, love Noble Spinel, but it doesn't matter because after 20 years driving darker cars, I'm now stuck with a white car

On a separate note, I don't know the specifics of the availability of this color. However, I thought it was available for all of 2007-2009. GS 350, released in 2006 as a 2007 model, offered Black Sapphire Pearl and Obsidian (incidentally, as replacements to Blue Onyx and Black Onyx, respectively, which were the blue and black options in the 2006 GS 300). So, I don't know why the GS would get it early but not the LS.

Having said this, Nospinzone special-ordered, so presumably the info the dealer gave at the time was accurate (it always is, right? ).

Well white is a nice color and I'm sure you're enjoying the ease of keeping it clean. The only thing that really stands out on white paint is rust...rust is tough to hide on white.

I ordered my car in late March, 2007. Here is the original color chart from my brochure. I scanned it so the colors may not show up well, but you can read the names of the colors. The only thing that came close to blue was Black Sapphire Pearl. Depending on the light it either looked black or dark blue.

They must have added blue later in the model year. Maybe it was because I complained.

Thank you! Brief tangent... I hadn't had a white car since I started driving a long time ago. I thought I would have a "break", but it also shows everything! To boot, dirt collects along the edge of the clear bra! But it's all good... It's a tradeoff: cleaning is a bit harder indeed because of things like rust and other stuff, so I use the clay bar a bit more. Finishing it, on the other hand, doesn't require that extra step that my wife's truck demands (and my 460 also needed).

That's it! Black Sapphire Pearl. It looks much bluer in real life than in the brochure. It's a nice blue even purplish metallic in the sun and pretty much black at night and from certain angles during the day.

Deep Sea was introduced in 2010, I think, and it superseded BSP.
