Self Healing Paint
I was reading something about Nissan making a paint that repels dirt. And it refreshed my memory that I think around 2010 or so, the LS was supposed to get "self healing" paint. Light scratches were supposed to heal over. But you never hear anything about it now. So I assume it either didn't happen or it did happen but didn't work. Because if it really was as good as they say, surely Lexus would tout it and others would copy it.
I remember hearing the same thing a while back. I think Nissan used this paint for 1 or 2 years a few years back. From what I remember, I think it's downfall was that body shops hated repairing it, and it was incredibly tough to buff on, and it didn't yield much results. So it would heal itself with very light scratches, but anything deeper than that was a nightmare to fix.
Like MB's Ceramiclear...notice you don't hear anything about that anymore either.
These odd paint finishes make corrections harder/impossible (ask detailers), bodywork harder and more expensive. More trouble than they're worth I think.
The car is out in the world...its going to get dirty and scratched. Wash it and polish it

I have a 2012 LS and it's supposed to have the self healing paint. If it's on the front bumper then it does not work as I have a few places where the paint has minor chips due to stones hitting it. Maybe the chips are too deep for the "self healing" to work!
However there are no visible scratches anywhere else on the car.
