I pulled the trigger on Saturday! Many thanks to all of you.
After years of schooling here and months of Internet car gawking, the LS 460 that I wanted dropped in my lap. I had planned to wait until next year and I expected to have to buy long distance. But the salesman at the Lexus dealer where we got my wife's IS250 called Saturday morning with news of an early lease return that was almost exactly what I wanted--cashmere over cashmere with the comfort package and something called the navigation value package. (I had asked him to keep his eyes open, but never had high hopes for him finding this combo..
It's s 2012, newer than I wanted, with 37,000 miles (freeway mostly). The previous owner had bought or leased nine LSs at this dealership and her salesman talked her into swapping this car for a 2014. On the lot for less than a week, only for sale for one day.
It's CPO, which I could have gotten dropped, but after looking at the numbers, it didn't make sense. They would only give me $1,000 for dropping CPO, but the interest rate (I financed half) went up from 1.99% to 3.99%. It didn't save enough dough to be worth doing, or grinding harder.
Thanks to all the great posters here, I was able to reject all the upsell offers on wrap warranties. It's a good shop, tho, and they don't push you.
So I'm spending today moving stuff from my 2001 430 into the new car. I'll get some pictures later and try to post. It's totally stock and that's how I'll keep it, so the pics might not be too exciting.
So, thanks again to everyone. Mission accomplished!
