Yes, I have not set eyes on it in person yet (we are currently having sub-freezing weather in Ohio) and I'm anxious to tear down the intake to that point and see what can be done.

I changed my belt a couple of weeks ago and noticed that box down there. Didnt make much sense to me either. Just looks like it goes no where. Keep us posted as to your findings on the function of it.

The mystery box probably functions to quiet down/smooth out any air intake sounds. Tuned to be as quiet as possible I suppose or a certain sound
You see this sometimes with OEM exhaust systems, some have these weird extensions as part of their resonator before the mufflers.

Looks like the filter heads will be about the same place as the OE air boxes

I did a live chat with aem today and the person on the other end knew nothing about an intake being made for our cars. Was probably just an admin lackey on the other end and not r&d.

SRT includes an ECU that "recalibrates the air-fuel ratios for optimal performance and enhanced fuel economy. Performance gains: +30HP and +40ft/lb torque." These gains were for the GS4xx, so not sure how it would look for the LS.

I will try posting in the local chapter section to see if anyone can donate their car for a week or two.

Great news guys/gals. I was just pmed by someone who can donate their car.

I also heard from SRT today that they can hustle and try to keep it to a week to get this knocked out so they do not have to keep the car as long.

Still in preliminary stages here, but looks like this may become a reality!

They said there would still be a cost, just much less than what it would sell for. PM me if you want more details and I can hook you up with the contact info.

Peteybabes, just sent you a PM. I think I managed to delete your PM by accident. Let me know if you have any more questions.
