I am on a quest to make my LS 460L AWD as quiet as possible and am just about to apply the JMcraney wind noise fix this weekend as one of the measures.

Also I am researching tire choice and have reviewed as many of the threads on this forum as possible. Secondly I have reviewed the Tire Rack website with respect to Surveys and Reviews. From all of this, I am leaning towards Michelin Primacy with an alternative choice of Bridgestone Serenity. I currently have Yokohama Envigor's which were on the car when I purchased it used and even on new ultra smooth black top there is some road noise.

 

I did the same thing. Double pane windows, new quiet tires, triangle fix, window seals replaced and window tap down. Results, very quiet car in which to hear the wind noise still present.

 

if you go Bridgestone, get the Serenity Plus...

Are you experiencing the "wind noise" under ideal conditions? I would define ideal conditions as: smooth road surface; dry road surface; calm wind; only car on the road; very low ambient noise; steady 60 MPH.

 

Yes, I get what I swear is wind noise along the top (I believe) of the drivers side window even in "ideal" conditions.. It is considerable better than when I started with the fixes, but still audible. My last visit to dealer for service I mentioned to service rep who mentioned some seal or strip at bottom (inside panel) of window that may be allowing road noise to pass through. Don't know if thats true or the source of the noise. It's not an intolerable thing, but still noticeable by me when driving.

 

I had serious wind noise, particularly in cross winds. The dealer upgraded to the dual pane door windows and new windshield trim and both helped but the JMcraney wind noise fix sealed the deal (thanks to Jim & pun intended). I have always gone with Michelin on my LS models, currently the Pilot HX MXM4s, and they are always much quieter.

 

If you go with Michelin tires, the Primacy tires are quiet below 30, loud at highway speeds. Loud whine from 50+. Pilots HX's are quieter. I did the triangle repair even though I didn't hear a lot of wind noise. Just occasionally. Helped.
