Why two "Eco" lights 2011 ls 460
I just purchased a 2011 LS 460. Its 820-page owners manual is daunting, says a lot, but not enough about many things. There are two ECO lights on the instrument panel. One can be turned off by pressing the ECO MODE switch, which I did, because I don't want to be in ECO. But another instrument panel light saying ECO comes on when a certain speed is reached. The ECO info panel also comes on. Can someone please tell me what's going on, and how do I get out of ECO? Thank you

One ECO light is to help you monitor your driving habits. It can be turned off in the instrument panel display. The other one that you turned off with the button puts the vehicle driving dynamics in an economical mode where the throttle (have to push the gas peddle further to get the same acceleration), transmission (up-shifts come sooner and you have to push further on the gas pedal to get a downshift), and AC are modified to help the vehicle get the best gas mileage.

Thank you, GK., for taking the time to reply.
Before the 2011 460, I owned for 15 years a 1994 400. Its owners manual was 250 pages, v the 460's 800+ (plus three subsidiary manuals). I got the 2011 for its safety features. I find the 400 to be quieter and smoother riding than the 460. I suspect the tires and will start a new thread about other's experience with the Dunlop Sports that came with the car.

It gets odder
Hi all, After getting independent diagnoses from three sources that there was a suspension problem, I took the car to Lexus San Diego. I didn't go until I sure there was a problem.
The shop chief and I took a test ride. He said there is a free front suspension "update" that would fix the "diving when braking" problem. He showed me the bulletin; it exactly described the problem,.
He soon came back, perplexed: The update was for 2007-2010 LS's; the problem was supposed to have been fixed in 2011 models.
He thinks it is probably a control arm problem. They will put it on a lift check them. The suspension shop had done this and found them loose, so the Lexus shop should find the same thing, and install/replace as necessary under the warranty. I say"should" because with car dealers one never knows.
The shop chief said that was all they could do (if they do it), there is nothing else that affects ride and braking, other than tires, and I have Michelin Energy Saver on order at a tire shop.
I'll keep you posted.
