Ls 460 moon roof rattle
Has anyone had an issue with a moon roof rattle in the up position, sounds as if the glass is loose. If I slightly close the rattle stops. Not sure if I want lexus taking apart the moon roof/ head liner to repair. I may just live with it, but would like to get it looked at. 2011 LS 460 sport.

i had pretty ridiculous rattling whilst driving or when the subwoofer hit -- the dealer disassembled the plastic trim piece closest to the front of the car on the sunroof and found some broken clips. the sunroof still rattles when i hit big bumps with it open but music no longer makes it sound like it will fall on my head

I had the same issue on my GS50 and it was enhanced by the fact that the car was dropped. It was annoying but I didnt want the techs taking out my headliner.

Took the LS to Lexus yesterday and they found the problem. Appearently when the moon roof is in the up position it rests on a metal bar/brace in the front of the roof and this is causing the rattle. They have had several owners with the same issue. They don't have a fix right now but are sending this info to Lexus to find a solution/fix. They will let me know when they have an answer. I will keep you advised.

If I open the sunroof and then repeat, I can't hear it. I suspect something came loose up there, the rear of the track is hitting the metal. I guess my headliner is coming off. I haven't made an appointment yet, but I'm going to.
It took a lot of head scratching. After I discounted the sunshade, I thought it was the rear deck as it sounds like the noise was coming from trunk area, but I think the acoustics, shape and sound bouncing off the glass can play tricks on you.
I do have a request: would anyone else minding getting in the back seat and, with a fist, hit the roof near the rear courtesy light with the sunroof and sunshade closed and let me know if you hear a rattle? I just want to confirm its the railing in the there.

Well, that's understandable, but the hitting doesn't even have to be hard. Just a tap will do actually, near the rear courtesy light.
If anyone else is willing to test this, I would be grateful.

I hit mine this morning, but I did it from the drivers seat, and it was not the noise I usually hear in the back on the right side. I could hear the rattle in the metal of the sunroof clearly.

Thank you!
That's interesting. Do you hear it while driving over jarring bumps?
Also, with the sunroof fully retracted back, if I bang on the headliner, no metal sound.
Anyone else care to test?
