Chrome question
I have a ls460l and I hate chrome anywhere but wheels. I was wanting to either paint all the chrome black or I really want to do it all in black chrome. Does anyone know where I can get the door handles, lower door chrome, grill chrome, the piece over the plate and the strips that outline the window. I have looked and looked but have only been able to locate through dealers. I just don't want to have to take them off and send them out so I figured I would just buy new ones. Thanks for the help and sorry ahead of time for everyone that loves the chrome
Also how do I get a price on the "black bison" grill. I really like that one.

the car is black. i grew up in a family that shows old hot rods and muscle cars. i think too much contrast looks tacky (just my opinion) just like i hate the chrome door pillars people put on i think they look cheap. i want everything black but the wheels. alot of high end cars like lambos etc do this (except wheels). it keeps the body lines looking fluid and not chopped up..

Lexus painstakingly hand polish the die-cast zinc and chrome plate the side windows moldings on the LS 460. Would be a shame to paint over them. On the other hand, for a black LS, "blacked out" would look real cool with tinted windows.

you may also look into powder coating.. it maybe a more durable coating on those chrome pieces..(as long as there are not plastic w chrome paint) unless they are going to sand blast the pieces before painting it WILL eventually chip or peel off.. ask anyone who has painted chrome wheels...
also try extra clear coats to increase durability....

A thread from way back on going all black over the chrome. I also remember another thread which had some pictures of black window trim. In both cases, they painted them.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I would love to see a picture of the ls that was blacked out. The chrome is growing on me ( I never thought I would say that) but I know the car all blacked out would be cool. Black chrome might be a happy medium between chrome and paint.

i get surprisingly a lot of compliments on the chrome stuff but i dont like it much rather myself...(not a chrome person) but ive seen a guy that has made all the chrome on his IS-F black with vinyl i think...im most likely just going to paint the grill blk and call it a day LOL

vinyl is a pretty good idea. it would atleast give me a less permanant way to black out the chrome. i can always take that off. the black bison grill is pretty cool. its all black but i havent found out if you can buy it seperately and if you can i havent seen a price.
