Default Drive belt

Had my VSR done today and the SA called to say that the tech advised to change the drive belt. I'm at 40k (07 LS 460). I don't doubt what they say, I feel pretty comfortable with them. My question concerns a TSB that I see regarding the drive belt tensioner (L-SB-0164-08)
http://www.lambros.net/LexusTechInfo...SB-0164-08.pdf. Would I be out of line mentioning this to the sa when I pick my car in the morning to see if she can talk with the technician to see it this applies to my car which may be why the belt needed to be replaced and perhaps apply the rest of the fix as well?

Absolutely not, especially if your car is still under warranty. Although, are you sure it was already done, that was an old TSB.

There is no reference to the TSB being done in the service reports. The car is still being serviced at the same dealership as the original owner.

Like you, I had the VSR done and was told the drive belt had to be replaced. My 2007 has 56K miles and they said they woulld like to do it at the 60K service. I do my own maintenance and agree with you that the belt should not need replacement until 90K - seems like a TSIB issue. Did the dealer replace your tensioner and belt for free?

I presume were talking the serpentine drive belt, but just for clarification on the timing belts.

Timing Belt (GS 430, SC)
Replace every 90,000 miles or
108 months. A qualified technician
should perform this operation.

Timing Chain (GS 350, IS, LS)
The GS 350, IS models and the LS
are equipped with a timing chain that
requires no periodic inspection.

This post is about the serpetine belt or as Lexus likes to call it the "accessory drive belt" - nothing to do with the timing chain.

No, the dealer charged $56 for the belt, no labor cost since it was during the VSR. I did ask the SA if the belt life could have been decreased because of the TSB issue but she said that if they needed to replace the tensioner the tech wouldn't have been able to put a new belt on correctly. I am not 100% confident in that answer but if they if this belt issue comes up again I am going to reference my paperwork and insist it be addressed.
