Looks like too much tire!! Small wheels+ bigger (quality) tires equals great ride. However not my style. My deuce deuces improved my drive 10%, however to each their own. If this makes you happy, than more power to you sir. I just think that if your factory wheels were jacked, get another set of factories, from your our local rim shop that were just took off a car that had 22"s put on, for cheap.
You spent $$ on rims and tires that were 1" larger than the largest factory size? Sorry but it makes no sense to me.
I need an LS to understand ride comfort or tire comfort?
Now who's talking out of the side of their neck.
I tried to explain, you don't want to hear it. Cool. I'm out of this thread.
But I understand. Some people just want everyone to say their car looks good. When someone says otherwise, they get their pannies in a bunch. I have no hate in my heart. I just don't like 20's on big luxo-barges. No biggie. I'm out. Peace.
Wow..kinda sensitive..no side neck talkin here..I was just wondering if you had experience with 22s on an LS since you talk about them so much. If you dont like the car on 20s, thats fine. I could care less.
I think 22s look great and if I lived in AZ or FL, I would of picked up some. Im sure folks around here on 22s pray each time they are driving around downtown or in midtown...I know I would be. These ATL roads aren't that great in the perimeter. I know a few folks who took off their various end20 and 22s on their cars because of the potholes and dreaded steel plate covers that shifted and caused damage to wheels. With the roads and road trips I do, 20s were a good compromise for me, period.
too each is own but personally I dont buy rims that dont look better than the stocks and as far as upgrading the stock 19's look good for that look, 22 can be rode on but pot hole are a problem and skinny tires dont protect to much but the lex suspension is soft enough to absorb that and if it is still a problem then coilovers might help out even more. but it is your car and you do what you want.

My bad if I took your comments the wrong way but you have to admit, calling my comments "baffoonery" set a negative tone.
Let's squash it.
To answer, owning 22's is not the tell-tale factor. It's tire sidewall aspect ratio. Most LS owners who buy 22 use 245-30 profile tires up front. That's the same aspect ratio I use with my 20's so comparisons are somewhat valid. I have found that quality of the tire compensates for the low profile sidewall. In addition, a tire engineered for comfort helps tremendously. 22's are not as harsh if the owner selects the right tires. That's all I'm trying to say.
Too many people assume they ride terrible and that's what they repeat to others without knowing this to be true.
If anything, the LS should ride even better than my GS because the suspension is softer. If the LS has air suspension it's even way better. There is no reason to not get 22's...except the cost. But they look so hot on the LS it's a great trade-off in my book.
Good luck and enjoy your ride with the 20's.
Seriously, I am considering the dub deuces down the line because they do look really good. I did drive an LS on 22s around town and my first reaction was it didnt ride that well to me. I did factor in tire type and perhaps even wheel build, so that turned me off to the idea based on that episode. I plan to get a long wheel base in the next year or so, and I agree that 22s are a must on that model. I hope to be on smoother florida roads if I can get this transfer approved at the job.
the 20 vs 22 debate is always entertaining with all big body forums like CL. No harm, no foul..all good
I have the swb without air on 22" Forgiatos with 255/30/22 and 285/25/22 and it rides no where near the oem 18" to all the people saying there better it must be nice living on glass streets but in New Orleans and the rest of the country the streets suck and the ride on skinnies isnt any better. My sc430 dropped on teins handles bumps better. ICE350 even though the tires have the same aspect ratios as your 20" they still ride worse. There heavier and theres more rotational mass since your getting about 5% over factory. I bet if you rocked 22" on your GS you would change your views quick. Also just because the LS is bigger sedan doesnt mean it needs bigger rims. The suspension geometry was made for 18". Every body bashing CJ should look at there own goals on there LS or smaller cars not everyone here is trying to stunt on there block we have different cars for that. Maybe CJ wanted a clean comfy ride? I think it looks better than factory. I bet it rides better than my car. Maybe thats what he wanted...... To each his own
So glad I sold the rear 8.5 and swapped out to the 10" wide staggers for the rear...the other thread has updated pics. to me it is like night and day diff having the Jolie's on the back lol

Funny you mention N.O. I was just down there while on military duty at Keesler AFB. Decided to take a trip there on my day off and you ain't never lied. The roads there were pretty bad, but folks were still rollin hard. I saw a ES 300 on Bourbon with 26s...I have to find that pic..but that was just way over the top. Im sure they dont worry about bent rims or ride quality when it comes to a setup like that..damm. If they swerved at high speed, that car would be doing the same as the Flintstones car
You mean this guy
He has 30 series tires it must ride the same as the LS even though there 26"
Lol...actually, this one was either green or purple with color matched wheels. The unsprung weight must be crazy and brakes probably need 3 month replacing

I completely agree there is a big difference from 18 to 22. It's huge. There's a difference between 18 to 20 as well. 18's on a LS must be 245-45-18. That's like riding on air. It is riding on air.
Not sure I can fully accept your proposition that 245-30-20 rides a lot better than 245-30-22. I can't logically associate rotational mass with ride comfort since it all depends on what is touching the road. What's touchiong the road is 245-30 aspect ratio. Rotational mass means it would take longer for a section of tire to contact the pavement but when it gets there it's still on 245-30 rubber. Since I have never been in a car on 22's I can't completely discount your claim either. I'll just have to check it out.
What does make a lot of sense is the quality of roads where you are as opposed to south Florida. Ours aren't the best but they are better than most.

Here are the most recent pics. I should of got the rear stagger setup to begin with...but I was thinking I would be rotating all the time, but this isn't my daily driver. The rear 10" wide wheels really change the look of the 20s from the original pics on page 1
