Exclamation Touchy Brakes on the LS460

I just got a used 2007 LS and found the brake is super sensitive. If I press the brake pedal very quickly, I always hear a clunk or bang (brake assist?) from the front end. Is this normal? The car does brake smoothly if I press the pedal slowly.

Yes it's normal (at least for me, I got used to all kinds of weird brake noises).

Want a new one? Pull down the driver's window and slowly drive backward (or forward it doesn't matter) while slowly depressing the brake pedal. Enjoy the symphony.

You should also listen to the brake actuator noise. It's a lot more fun.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

yup, the brakes senses your pressure and apply brakes differently for you

Funny, I just picked up an 07 and feel like the brakes dont bite. Its as if they were designed to stop as smoothly as possible

Problem solved. I replaced the original factory pads (with 131,700 miles) with Autozone DLG Ceramic pads today. The car now brakes normally.
