That is tooo funny!! The "Wind Noise" problem is four years old now and here we have an agent of Lexus saying that their fix is worse than the problem.

We bought our '08 LS in March of '08. Great car, only had the wind noise issue and Jeff's fix did the trick. Just got back from a 5,300 mile trip to Key West and back, with two 1,000+ mile days and it was great, especially the posted 80 MPH I-10 stretch from Kerrville to El Paso...Yeowzaaa!!

Interestingly I'm presently trying to trade it for a '10 RX450h. LS is just too low slung for wife's ease of entering and exiting. Paid about 70K for it and even with only 31K miles, dealers only want to give me ~35K trade-in...half of what I paid only two years ago.

If I can't trade it I'll try to sell it myself.

Whit

On the GS you can turn the seat belt chime off so I would assume the LS would do the same

Yes it really inspires confidence doesn't it?

Default Also new owner of '08 LS460

I brought home an '08 LS460 this week, CPO with 32k. My wife loved the car - so smooth! It was from DCH Lexus of Oxnard; they seem like a great place so far...

I didn't get extended warranty, even though we keep our cars forever - Traded in our '96 Integra for this, only because it was in an accident.

I got copies of all the dealer service records from Lexus, and was interested to learn that the car was in an accident. Driver claimed he hit a curb, poped both right side tires. Both tires and one wheel were replaced. Interesting to also learn that, even though he was covered by insurance and a claim was made, none of this showed up on CARFAX (I now understand Carfax is of pretty limited use...).

Came with new Nexen N7000 tires, which I had never heard of. Anyone have experience with these tires?

Thanks!

Default New Owner?

I am looking at a 2007 LS460 with only 12K miles. The car looks showroom new. The valve spring mod has been done and there is no wind noise at 75. At $46,000 I am slightly reluctant to purchase even though I believe it is a good buy. Sewell is the dealer and that's good news. I already have a RX350, my first Lexus and not a good first impression of Lexus quality. The LS460 came from the Miama, FL area but I don't think that should be a problem. BTW Obsidian Black, tan interior.

Comments.

On my 2010, I have noticed that if I drive for a block or two and the seat belt chime goes nuts, if I put the car in park, open the door and they drive off again, WITHOUT my seatbelt fastened, the chime rings just once and then stops. I'm doing real estate right now, so when I put out the signs, I am driving maybe one block, then stopping, opening the trunk, closing the trunk and then driving another block. Too much trouble to fasten the seat belt each time.
FYI....turns out the dealer was able to turn off the seat belt chime. The first time I went in was on a weekend and supposedly the tech that was on site didn't know how to do it and the service guy said he had never heard of anyone turning off the seat belt chime. I emailed him the page from the manual that said this could be changed by the dealer with the personal preferences. A few days later he called and said his master tech knew how to do it, so I went back in and they turned it off. Took about 5 minutes.
