Potential 07 LS460L Purchase
The LS460 (L) has been on my wish list for a long time. In theory, I could (finally) buy a brand new 2010. However, I just stepped into a situation where I could get my hands on a CPO 07 LS460L with only 10k miles on it for around $50k
. Seems like a great deal that I should hop on (trading in my 08 GS350). However, I am a tech nut, and I'm a bit worried I'll be dissatisfied with the tech on a car probably produced 4 years ago.
So, what has changed since the 07 model year? Nav, Ipod, bluetooth, XM features, voice recognition, etc?
For about $10-$15k more, I could hop into a 2010 non-LS model, but would there be much of a difference? To put it into perspective, I really like the new Infiniti M37/56, as it is fairly larger than my GS350 and has some great, great features for the price, but it seems so small compared to the LS460 or L.
Anyways, just looking for some feedback on the tech aspects of the 2007 versus 2010, and potentially other current vehicles.
Thanks

The 2010 LS added full iPod integration (which has had a varying reception here on CL), next gen nav, Lexus Enform (subscription based), VoiceBox voice recognition. However, the 2007-2009 LS had the XM NavTraffic availability (also subscription), Gracenote, AUX input for iPod, older generation voice recognition, etc. Bluetooth is on both, but if BT audio streaming is available, only on 2010 (have to check). I myself prefer the graphics of the 2007 generation navigation better too.
Ultimately, it depends on what you prioritize in terms of tech features. If you have time, you might want to try testing out the 2010 LS tech features at a showroom or test drive, to compare with the 2007.

Interesting. It sounds like the 07 LS is pretty identical to the 08 GS in terms of tech - I can live with that. I have to admit, though, that the 2011 MX is a leap forward in this area. The high resolution screen, voice recognition capabilities, 3d buildings birds eye view, speed, etc just blew me away.
I've seen people discuss the VAIS upgrades, but I'm quite unclear on what these actually do and how they affect the warranty.

Before finding this forum I was looking at upgrading to a new car. I test drove an S550 and the new M56. I owned an M45 when they came out with the 06 and the interior and tech is nice, but nothing compares to the quality of the LS.
I'm your average nutty early adopter, must have new tech kind of guy (typing this message from the completely unnecessary iPad right now). I found the new upgrades from the early model LS to be minimal and not worth the upgrade. That's just what I think after looking at the competition and 2010 with the intent to buy.
But....go with your gut, it's your car to enjoy and what I feel are minimal or unnecessary tech upgrades may be just what you're looking for.
Good luck with your decision and post some pictures/review with whatever you decide!
