Over 4 years of mixed driving (highway, city, traffic) I am seeing 20.5 Average MPG on my LS460. Not bad, considering the weight and horse power of that thing.

For two years now I get a consistent 19/20 around town and 29/31 on highway x-countries on my '08 LS.

17 - 19 mpg in the city, mid 20s on the freeway, and I'm running staggered 19s and K&N. Octane is 91 - 92, and 0W20 full synth all the way. Oil change at Valvoline = $101. Not bad for 9 quarts of 0W20.

Not worth cleaning K&Ns in my opinion. . .if they still filter better than new when dirty, why risk it? I agree that if they are over-oiled they will ruin MAF. And no amount of cleaning MAF will fix MAF. It is new MAF time. .

Which brings me back to the topic of this thread. . failing any fuel leaks, I wonder how much a new MAF is? That solved a bucket of seemingly unrelated problems for me on my GS in one $90 DIY replacement. I'm a big proponent of replacing MAF first nowadays.

I have an ‘09 SWB AWD with 22k miles..I am averaging 15.6 city/highway driving. Not very good and I don’t have a heavy foot. I just changed air filters and oil. I thought it would help to get a better mpg but it didn’t help. Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
I use premium Shell or BP 93 octane fuel.

I would check your the following.

-Correct tire pressure
-Condition of tires
-Wheel alignment

If those are in line then I would reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins.

Tee,
-tire pressure is good (33psi when cold)
-40-50% of thread left on original Bridgestone EL42 tires
-wheel alignment seems fine
I will try to reset ECU. Will see what happens.
Thanks.

If you are driving very short trips and your LS starts with a cold engine each time, your mileage could be accurate. I also noticed when I have the heated steering wheel on, the heated seats on and the climate control on, the engine revs higher at idle. Also, the higher the percentage of ethanol, the lower your mileage.

Some factors to consider.

Since we are on the miles per gallon, I was wondering if there is a big difference in mpg between SWB and LWB? I know from experience my SWB I can get almost 550 miles per tankful on the freeway for average of 27 mpg crusing around 75 mph.

I am thinking of making a switch in about one year to LWB since I love the executive ottoman feature. I do alot of state to state driving and will actually have a chauffeur next year.

No offense, but if you can afford a chauffeur, will a couple less mpg really break you?

Not if you are going from Ft. Lauderdale to Seattle and back on a 30 day road trip with stops at every big city on west coast and Texas. Thinking putting on 10K miles on the car. I put about 50K on LS each year. So it does add up.

I am getting easily 22.0 to 22.3 mpg all of the time with mixed city and highway. I love the fact that the V8 in my LS gets the same mpg as the V6 in my GS350

You have a good point, I am driving short trips 6-7 miles in the city and I do have the heated seats on, heated steering on and the climate control on since it’s freezing cold here in Chicago.

Anyone burn 87 or 89 octane ?
I think these cars recalculate fuel/air ratio with knock sensors to allow low octane fuels.

Ever get this fixed ?
Something is definatly wrong not just tire preassures, alignment, oil etc.
Sounds like a clogged injector or bad MAF.
MAF's can be cleaned BTW.
